Ian Aitcheson, Danny Weaver, and Keshjuan Betts A Silverhill man found in his burned mobile home Wednesday was slain before the fire was set.
The body of Robert Paul Aitcheson, 51, was discovered in the living room of his trailer after firefighters put out the blaze just after 1 a.m.
On Thursday, the Sheriff's Office issued a statement saying that the victim had been killed by someone before the fire was set.
He said the fire apparently was set to destroy evidence after Aitcheson was murdered.
Aitcheson's body was badly burned in the fire and officials could not confirm at the scene that he had been killed before the blaze was set.http://www.al.com/news/press-register/metro.ssf?/base/news/1233310546113870.xml&coll=3
The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office arrested a slain man's son and two of the teenager's acquaintances and charged each with capital murder and first-degree arson.
Investigators believe that his son, Ian Aitcheson, 16, along with Danny Weaver, 19, and Keshjuan Betts, 19, entered the 51-year-old victim's home just before 1 a.m. with the intent to rob and murder Mr. Aitcheson.
Money may have been taken from the residence and more arrests could occur.
Ian Aitcheson moved out of his father's mobile home days before the murder and the teen recently became acquainted with Weaver and Betts.
A preliminary autopsy indicated that Robert Aitcheson died from a single stab wound to his upper abdomen, possibly caused by a large knife.
Ian Aitcheson and Weaver were arrested late Thursday night at their residence. Both men admitted to being involved in the crime.
Betts was arrested about 1 p.m. Friday following an interview with investigators.
If convicted of capital murder, Betts and Weaver could face the death penalty. Aitcheson was charged as an adult, but his age would exclude him from the death penalty.
The Sheriff's Office recovered two vehicles and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle from Weaver's and Aitcheson's residence. The vehicles were stolen Thursday from Robert Aitcheson's business, an automobile repair shop.
Ian Aitcheson said in court Friday that he doesn't attend school, but he completed the ninth grade last year. Weaver said he moved back to the area recently after living in North Dakota. (good riddance!)
According to court documents, Weaver was out of jail on $7,500 bail for 2007 charges in Baldwin County that included first-degree theft of property, first-degree criminal mischief and second-degree receiving stolen property..http://www.al.com/news/press-register/metro.ssf?/base/news/1233396964235560.xml&coll=3
