Several malnourished puppies are found in a Belington woman's home now the owner is facing charges.
Samantha Eye is facing one count of animal cruelty.
Magistrate Kathi McBee issued a summons and Eye will go to court on February third.
Police have been investigating the case since the summer. They were first called to the home about one dog wandering the streets. Police Chief Preston Pierce told Samantha Eye that she needed to take care of her dog. They were called back to the home in December and found the same dog wobbling on it's knees and noticed it just had puppies. Police told her she needed to feed the dog twice as much so it could feed the puppies.
That's when they got the call that the puppies were running loose in the neighborhood...extremely malnourished and skin and bones. The bellies were bloated because of parasites, and you could see their ribs and hip bones.
Chief Pierce called the Animal Friends of Barbour County and they took custody of the pups.
Doctor Tonya White of Elkins also examined the pups and in her opinion, said they were neglected.
