A Virginia man is behind bars on first degree murder charges after allegedly killing his girlfriend in Buckhannon.
It all started Wednesday morning when the Buckhannon Police Department received a call to respond to a home on Railroad Avenue.
There, they found a woman, dead inside a white Nissan, parked in front of the home.
Police arrested 18-year old Ridge Huffman and charged him with first degree murder. Huffman is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail without bond.
The victim, 20-year old Rebekah Gibson was found with laceration wounds to her head, face and neck.
Police say the crime itself started in the Walmart parking lot where Huffman allegedly killed Gibson, threw her body into the front seat of the Nissan and then drove to the home on Railroad Avenue.
The Sheriff's Department and State Police Crime Scene Unit also assisted at the scene.

At around 5:04 a.m. Wednesday, Buckhannon police received a call to respond to Huffman's father's home. They found Gibson's body in the front passenger seat of Huffman's white Nissan.
According to police, Huffman and Gibson got into an argument while they were sitting in the car in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Huffman apparently broke a bottle over Gibson's head and then used the broken glass and a knife to cut her head, face and throat.
Huffman then allegedly drove to his father's house, about three miles from the store, and told a family member he had killed someone. The family member then notified police.
Police say jealousy is a possible motive in the slaying.http://www.newsleader.com/article/20090131/NEWS01/901310333/1002/news01

Wow, and I actually wanted to exchange phone numbers with a guy while standing in line at Wal-Mart? I may have to re-think my dating habits!
What a fucking nut-job!

I'm a cousin to Ridge. For years our family has tried to get help for him and his other family members and for years it's been a run around from the state. Never getting what they promised or what the kids needed. It's been suspected that he is bipolar at least and after his mother dies things for him and his family just rocketed down hill. The entire history of this family is just an example of paper pushers letting cases fall through the cracks. We are all deeply sorry and shaken by the events. Hopefully the other kids can get help to get through this and we don't have another family tragedy to mourn. My prayers and thoughts are with both familys.
Most of his family that posted are saying "something's wrong with him". Gladly they are not saying he's innocent or any tardy things (for the most part)... just excuse making but they do admit he needs punishment.
I think some folks that posted must be tard tards. Rumor gossip crap that is sure to inflame emotions.

More details:
In the hours before Rebekah Gibson, 20, was killed, the Buckhannon City Police received two calls relating to the vehicle she was later found dead in.
The first call came in as a welfare concern for a vehicle in the vicinity of Wal-Mart and Arby's early Tuesday evening, according to Chief Matthew Gregory. Upshur County Com Center radio traffic indicated a man and woman were seen arguing in a white Nissan with Virginia plates. Two units responded but were unable to locate the vehicle.
Around 7:30 p.m., there was a destruction of property complaint at Wal-Mart in which a vehicle was damaged in the parking lot. Patrolman Nick Caynor suspected the Nissan was also involved in this complaint and put out a message through the communications center that he wished to speak to the occupants of that vehicle if they were stopped, according to Gregory.
There were no other calls relating to the Nissan until 5 a.m. Wednesday morning, Gregory said.
At 5 a.m., officers were called to 129 Railroad Avenue, where the body of Gibson had been discovered in the front seat of a white Nissan outside the residence.

The Virginia man accused of killing his girlfriend in the Buckhannon Wal-Mart parking lot last week apparently told police he has multiple personalities and remembers cutting the woman, but then blacked out. During testimony in Tuesday's preliminary hearing, Buckhannon Police officer Mark Stewart read statements Ridge Huffman made on the afternoon of his arrest.
Huffman, 18, of 50 York Ave., Stuarts Draft, Va., is facing a first-degree murder charge in the Jan. 28 slaying of Rebekah Jane Gibson, 20, of Waynesboro, Va.
On Tuesday, Huffman's attorney James Hawkins asked that the charge be reduced to voluntary or involuntary manslaugher. However, Upshur County Magistrate Juanita Adams bound the case over to Upshur County Circuit Court.
According to the statement Stewart read, Huffman said he and Gibson stole a bottle of whiskey from Rite-Aid and went to Pringle Tree Park where they had sex. They then went to Wal-Mart and got into an arguement because she wanted to break up with him.
In the statement, Huffman said he cut her and then blacked out.
Stewart said Huffman told police he hears voices in his head and has different personalities. One of those is George, a "bad guy;" and when George took over he (Huffman) blacked out, according to the statement.
Stewart said that during the interview Huffman stated on one occasion that George did not want to talk anymore.
Stewart also told the court that Huffman took police to the crime scene at the Wal-Mart parking lot where the knife that was allegedly used in the crime was located.
Upshur County Prosecuting Attorney Jake Reger and Hawkins presented statements and evidence in the hearing that lasted a little less than an hour.
Also testifying Tuesday was Sgt. Doug Loudin of the Buckhannon Police Department. He said that when he arrived at 129 Railroad Ave., he saw Gibson's body covered with a blanket and coat on the passenger seat of a white Nissan bearing Virginia registration. The vehicle was locked and police had to break the driver's side window to gain access. The car is registered in Huffman's name.
Loudin stated that no pulse could be located on Gibson's body and the Upshur County Emergency Squad was then dispatched to the scene. According to Loudin, the victim had two large gashes on her throat and several lacerations on her forehead.
Huffman's father, Mike Huffman, gave police permission to enter his trailer, Loudin said, and Ridge Huffman was arrested without incident. According to Loudin, there was a strong odor of alcohol on Ridge Huffman at the time of his arrest.
The defense did not call any witnesses during the hearing.
In closing arguments, Hawkins stated that with the evidence presented, there was no grounds for a first-degree murder charge. Instead, he said the charge should be reduced to either voluntary or involuntary manslaughter.
Reger said the state had presented enough evidence to more than prove a charge of first-degree murder
Adams agreed with the state and bound the case over to the May term of the grand jury. No bond was set in the case. Huffman was transported back to the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
