Los Altos resident James Palmerson, 14, and Saratoga resident Roslyn Marshall, 13, were last seen around 9 a.m. Sunday, police Sgt. John Kurges said.

Palmerson, who lives with his grandparents, apparently took his grandfather's wallet and gray 2005 Honda Civic and went to pick up Marshall, who lives with her parents.

The two are believed to be romantically involved and apparently left town voluntarily, Kurges said.

"We don't think they knew each other more than several weeks," he said.

The teens had never been on a date and neither has a history of running away, but James' friends told police he had been packing things in a duffle bag and apparently planning for the past week or two to leave town, Kurges said.

Friends of the teens told investigators James planned on heading to Utah, Las Vegas or Colorado, and police said his cell phone was used in Utah Sunday night.

A credit card and check card that were inside the grandfather's wallet have been canceled, and police have not been able to track the cell phone since Sunday.

"After that they've gone dark on us," Kurges said.

Kurges said no one has been able to provide police with a reason for the teens to run away.

"We seem to be about two steps behind them," he said.

Palmerson is about 5 feet 9 inches tall, 150 pounds with black hair and green eyes. Marshall is about 5 feet 6 inches tall, 130 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

The Honda Civic Palmerson is believed to be driving has California license plate 5NLM445.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Los Altos police at (650) 947-2770 or Santa Clara County Sheriff's Sgt. (408) 808-4500.

Anonymous calls can be made to (408) 808-4431.

I really hope this kids just decided to take a teenage "road trip". According to the articles I've read they don't seem to be dating. SO hopefully they're just friends and wanted to get away for a bit..I truely hope they find their way home before harm comes to them. My prayers are with them and their familes.

Two teens who left the South Bay in a stolen car Sunday morning were found safe in Colorado Tuesday night, according to the Los Altos Police.

14-year-old James Palmerson of Los Altos and 13-year-old Roslyn Marshall of Saratoga were found inside their car at a mall in Lakewood, near Denver. According to Sgt. John Kurges, the teenagers appeared cold and tired.

The weather in the parking lot was about 5 degrees, according to an agent with the Lakewood Police Dept.

Kurges said the teens were taken into custody where they will wait as authorities coordinate with the Palmerson's grandparents and Marshall's parents. As of Tuesday night, neither teen was facing charges.
