KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The bodies of a woman and young child were spotted Thursday morning in the Blue River near 87th Street and Hickman Mills Drive.

Police were called to the area at about 10:30 a.m.

Investigators believe the bodies are that of a 22-year-old woman and her 17-month-old daughter who were reported missing earlier Thursday by the family.

"The deaths are being investigated as a murder-suicide," said police Capt. Rich Lockhart.

Police said the 22-year-old woman had not been seen since 5 a.m. She lived with her mother at a home near 117th Street and Newton Drive.

The woman's mother called police at about 8:30 a.m. after finding "disturbing" notes in the 22-year-old's bedroom.

The 22-year-old's car was found parked on a bank along the river. A note was also found inside the car.

Police are working to retrieve the bodies.

So this mom kills her baby and herself. Oh, yea that's better. NOT! She should have just killed herself.

Two bodies discovered in the waters of the Blue River were that of 26-year-old Lecletia J. Hardy, and her 17-month-old daughter, Lailah Hardy. The bodies are being reported as not having any signs of injuries, but an autopsy being conducted will determine the cause of death.

Police say that a homeless man who sleeps in the area discovered Lecletia's car about 10 feet from the bank of the river. He noticed a couple of notes on the passenger's seat with simple instructions to dial various phone numbers and what is believed to be a suicide note. The man dialed the number from his cell phone and reached Leceltia's sister. The man said "She knew pretty fast what was going on." Other reports are also saying that he spoke to her boyfriend as well.

Her mother had already feared the worst after discovering a binder written by Lecletia which had "disturbing notes" and a list of funeral arrangements made, she called police at 8:30am concerned for her daughter and granddaughter's well-being as they had not been seen since 5:00am. At 10:30am the bodies were found 20 and 30 feet away from the bank where her car was discovered.

What a shame, someone didn't take her threats serious enuff to get her some help....leaving a notebook full of stuff...took some time to do, I'd think someone would've been clued in....especailly the notes left ....the sister knew exactly what was going down when notified.

The innocent baby....why...

She is such a beautifl girl too...
