Police say a Mount Airy mother put her two young children at risk Tuesday night in an effort to keep them warm while she was away.

Theresa Brown, 35, was arrested late Tuesday night at her apartment on Kirby Avenue.

She is facing two counts of child endangering after allegedly leaving her 6-year-old and 9-month-old children home alone in her unlocked apartment for three hours.

Police say she left the oven on with the door open, and all four stove top burners lit. Authorities also say the home was filthy.

It's not clear what she was doing at the time the kids were allegedly left home alone.

Those poor kids. Thank God nobody was hurt. I'm sure it hurts enough to have to look at that face every morning!

Probably looking for meth or a beauty parlor...I know that is mean, but DAMN, I would have never taken her for a woman.

Poor little ones, I hope they find a better place than a gas chamber.

Damn isnt it enough that they were home alone with a fully lit gas stove??? WTF cares what she was doing---its what she wasnt doing. WTF is so damn important that you cant take your kids with you? Oh wait we bash those that take the kids along for their drug runs and john dates. hmm
