A 6-month-old girl is missing and her teen parents have been arrested.
Police formed an abduction response team shortly after Ania Duncan was reported missing about midnight. Patrol officers, detectives and two police dogs are scouting the neighborhoods where Ania has lived, including searching through garbage cans. Her godmother called police.
The baby's parents, Demetrius E. Duncan, 19, and a 17-year-old West Side girl, were arrested on suspicion of child endangering. They gave detectives conflicting information about their activities Wednesday, Lt. Thomas Stacho said. Four other people are being held for questioning.
"We need to talk to everyone who can help us sort out the contradictory information the parents are giving us," Stacho said. "We cannot rule out that this is an abduction or a custody dispute or that some harm has come to the baby."
Anyone with information is asked to called the Combined Abduction Response Team at 216-623-5105 or 216-623-5610.
Wednesday, Ania and her mother were at Duncan's apartment, where Duncan lives with his mother and siblings. It's not yet clear who else was there.
Duncan said he last saw Ania when he put her on the couch and walked to a store. Ania's mother said she slept all day. When she awoke about 7 p.m., Ania wasn't there, but she wasn't alarmed.
Ania and her mother usually stay with the maternal grandmother.
Police have searched both West Side neighborhoods. Ania's photograph will be posted soon.http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2009/01/cleveland_a_6monthold_girl.html
I'm hoping someone took the baby and she is fine. All those folks being questioned - hope somebody knows what happened and talks.

I hope so too, but I'm afraid this is probably another Casey Anthony thing. Especially if the parents can't get their stories straight.

The father of 6-month-old Ania Duncan told police where they could find his daughter's dead body during questioning, Deputy Chief Ed Tomba said.
Demetrius Duncan, 19, directed police to a garbage bin at a shopping plaza. Inside, police found Ania wrapped in a green blanket and put inside a garbage bag, Tomba said.
Duncan has not been charged but remains in jail. Tomba said Ania's mother, who is 17, is also under arrest as police try to determine what, if any, role she played in her daughter's death.
About 12:30 a.m., Ania's family called police and told them the infant was missing from the apartment where she was raised by her grandmother.
Duncan told his mother that he went to a store across the street and the baby was missing when he returned. The girl's mother was asleep on the couch when he left, Duncan told his mother.
But Tomba said Duncan told them he left the house to sell crack cocaine.
Duncan and the girl dated for about two years and had a rocky relationship, Duncan's mother said. She believed they knew about Ania's disappearance.
"I have nothing to say to either of them," Kawanis Duncan said a few hours before Ania was found. "How can you tell me you don't know what happened?"http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2009/01/dad_lead_police_to_dead_baby.html
Surveillance video from the shopping plaza where police discovered the body of 6-month-old Ania Duncan shows her father Demetrius Duncan walking past the building Wednesday afternoon carrying a trash bag.
Another video shot shows Duncan placing the trash bag inside the garbage bin. It took him about 20 seconds, police said.
Police found Ania Duncan's body inside the garbage bin, about 24 hours after her father told police where to find her body. The little girl was wrapped in a green blanket then placed in a garbage bag when police found her.
Duncan told police he returned home Wednesday afternoon and found the baby not breathing. He then tried reviving her but couldn't. He then carried Ania to the dumpster and disposed of her body.http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2009/01/police_say_they_have_video_of.html
Who finds their baby dead and then takes her out like trash? I bet the autopsy exposes yet another of his lies.

Either she was beaten or swallowed a rock. Such a beautiful baby. What a way to leave the world. I'm proud of the grandmother stating she has nothing to say to the 2. That baby was hers and not theirs. Fucking assholes.

Missing Baby Found Dead
Cleveland Police are holding a 19-year-old man in connection with the murder of a 6-month-old baby girl found Thursday.
Police say the girl's father, Demitrius Duncan, led them to a Dumpster at West 95th Street and Lorain Avenue.
Cleveland Police Lt. Thomas Stacho says officers searched the trash bin based on information from Duncan who was arrested earlier in the day and remains in police custody.
Stacho says officers moved some trash and noticed the baby's head. He says the body was wrapped in a green blanket and was partly in a plastic bag.
Early Thursday morning, the child's godmother called 911 saying that the baby had been stolen. The baby's mother told police she was at Duncan's mother's home on Denison Avenue Wednesday.
The mother said she had fallen asleep and when she woke up the baby was gone. The baby's mother said Duncan first told her the baby was with her godparents. He later told her he had left the door to the apartment open and when he returned the baby was gone.
Police questioned both Duncan and the baby's mother. She was later released, but Duncan remained in jail Thursday night.
Police said during an interview with Duncan he told police to go to the Dumpster, which is across the street from a home where Duncan used to live.
"Last night I lit a candle for her, it breaks my heart they found her in a Dumpster like she was garbage," said the baby's maternal grandmother Madeline Cintron, "I pray to God that he didn't do it on purpose because he has to face God in the end and jail too."
Duncan's mother Kiwanis Duncan said she doesn't believe her son would hurt the baby. She said he was a proud and loving father to the little girl.
"My son is not in this by himself, he has no capability doing something [like murder]." said Kiwanis Duncan, "As a mother I feel it wasn't on him, it wasn't his idea, it wasn't." (WTF!!!!!????)
Juvenile Court records indicate both the mother and Duncan have been in trouble before. Duncan was charged with assault and found in possession of crack cocaine in 2003. The baby's mother was accused of lying to Cleveland Police in 2007.
An autopsy will be performed Friday to determine how the baby died. Duncan has not been charged in the murder.

Damn, damn, damn!
Poor, sweet, beautiful girl. So sorry your daddy was an uncaring piece of shit. I pray your mommy had no part in this.
Seems mommy's mom was the only one living in reality here and that she truly loved this child.
Dad's mom? Clueless bitch in denial. "Not my boy!" Sure, mom. Musta been the sofa, tub, floor, dog, baby momma (all by herself) or even aliens! But never your innocent son! :reddy:
RIP sweet girl.

Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason will seek the death penalty against Dimetreus Duncan, 19, who is accused of killing his 6-month-old daughter Jan. 14. Details about the killing were released today.
Duncan is charged with aggravated murder, kidnapping and gross abuse of a corpse in Ania Duncan's death.
Mason said today that Duncan smothered Ania with a pillow in the living room, while her mother slept in a bedroom. He wrapped the body in a blanket, put it in a trash bag with feces to mask the body's odor and dropped it into a trash bin behind his apartment building.
He later retrieved the body and took it to a Dumpster at West 95th Street and Lorain Avenue. Hours later, he told detectives to look for the body there, police said.http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2009/02/dimetreus_duncan_could_get_dea.html
