DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- DeKalb County police said Tuesday they hope the public will be able to help locate a 13-year-old girl who has been missing since December 10.
Andrea Lois Key, 13, was last seen at her house on Audubon Drive in December.
According to detectives, she had been communicating online with an unknown man.
Since Key’s disappearance, officers have reached out to family, friends and acquaintances, DeKalb police said. Police said they have exhausted all leads and they hope the public can help.
Key was last seen wearing a red shirt and dark blue jeans. She is described as a black female, 4 feet 10 inches tall, 100 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information about Key should contact the DeKalb County Police Department’s Special Victim’s Unit at (770) 724-7710.

This freaks me out. My niece Taylor is 13. Her parents do not allow her to have a MySpace, but recently found out that she had created a MySpace page for herself without their knowledge. Among other no-nos, she listed herself as 16, posted video of her and another friend dancing "sexy", and posted her cell number publically.
Now, I know for a fact that her parents have had the internet safety talk with her - she just doesn't seem to take it seriously. She's been grounded as a result of this transgression, but she can't stay grounded forever, and I'm not sure that the gravity of this behavior has really sunken in, yet.
I wonder if showing her stories like this one would help? If so, if anyone who reads this is aware of any MORE stories like this, perhaps people would be kind enough to message me links?

I don't know of any more stories, but I do know my sister was a complete idiot about internet safety as well. She confided in me that she was meeting boys online so when my brother came to visit shortly after that, we set up a "sting" lol. I created a fake screen name and messaged her to invite her to a party. I asked for her phone number and she gave it. I asked where she lived and she told me. My brother and his fellow marine went to the front of the neighborhood and waited for her and her friend to sneak out and meet these "boys" and go to a supposed party. Instead of some high school boys they DIDN'T know, we picked them up. My brother reemed her and her friend a new asshole and made them cry, but I really don't think they understood how dangerous the situation could have been. A lot of teenagers think they are invicible and it won't happen to "them". The best solution would have been my mother disciplining her. I suggested an alarm system so she couldn't sneak out, but my mom didn't do it ...oh well...she is 19 now and has survived thank god.

A 13-year-old girl who had been missing for more than a month was found unharmed at a north DeKalb apartment complex Thursday.
Andrea Lois Key was found about 1 p.m. living with a group of adults and teens at the Jasmine Apartments on Pleasantdale Road, said county police spokeswoman Mekka Parish.
The girl vanished Dec. 10, but Parish said she apparently left home voluntarily. She said police do not expect to file any criminal charges.
Detectives tracked the girl’s Internet activity to learn her general location and then canvassed the area until witnesses pointed out the girl, Parish said.
