A 14-year-old Orange County boy is being treated at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children after he accidentally shot himself in the groin with a handgun, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.
The boy told deputies that he was home alone in the 3700 block of Needles Drive, in the Riverside Acres neighborhood, when he heard someone trying to break in. He retrieved the gun from a holster in his parents' closet and mistakenly shot himself, he told authorities. Although the boy suffered serious blood loss, the wound is not believed to be life-threatening.
The boy's name was not released.

I pray the boy heals from his wound and has a quick recovery.
