McGlothen's boyfriend, Dominique D. Lewis, 26, was also arrested and charged with murder.
Both have also been charged with burglary, fraudulent use of a credit card and tampering with physical evidence.
McGlothen was living with her grandmother at the time of the murder and continued to stay in the home after Hegge's death.
Hegge was retired from the University of Kentucky, where she worked as a neonatal nurse until 1992. She never married but adopted two children from Costa Rica.
One of Hegge's other granddaughters found her dead in a bedroom when she arrived to celebrate Hegge's birthday. Police said the house had not been not broken into.http://www.kentucky.com/179/story/621424.html
It's been a hard couple of weeks for Lille McGlothen. On November 30th her mother, Marilyn Hegge, who she says would do anything for anyone, was found beaten to death in her Lexington home on her 78th birthday.
For over a week, McGlothen hoped they would find who did this to her mom. Then Tuesday night, she and her husband got the news police arrested her daughter, 22-year-old Heather McGlothen, for the crime.
Heather McGlothen's boyfriend, 26-year-old Dominique Lewis, was also arrested for the murder, who her family says didn't see eye to eye with Marilyn Hegge.
They say he tried to stay with Heather a number of times, and Hegge didn't approve.
"She didn't want Dominique in there at night, but he would sneak in and stay all night", says Heather McGlothen's step-father, Henry Kilburn.
