At 1:30 am, on January 1st, Salem Police officers responded to the Salem Manor Apartments, regarding a report of a man that was trying to get his two pit bull dogs to attack residents.

Two residents from the apartment, fearing for their safety had to flee from the dogs prior to police arrival.

Upon police arrival, two officers approached Francisco Emiliano Martinez, 21, of Salem and his two pit bull dogs. Mr. Martinez immediately fled on foot. As he did, he began commanding the dogs to attack the officers.

The two dogs turned on one of the officers. The dogs lunged at the officer repeatedly. He fired once, killing one of the dogs. The second dog fled. The second dog was later located and impounded as a dangerous dog.

When Mr. Martinez fled, he tried to break into an apartment in the complex in an attempt to get away from the pursuing officer. He was quickly taken into custody.

Mr. Martinez was arrested and charged with two counts of Maintaining a Dangerous Dog, Interfering with Police, two counts of Menacing, Attempted Assault II, Attempted Assault of a Public Safety Officer and Attempted Burglary.

He also had warrants for two counts of Menacing and Delivery of a Controlled Substance. He was taken to the Marion County Jail where he was booked.

The two residents and the officer were not injured by the dogs.

Can ordering a trained dog to attack be called attempted murder? I hope so.

Dude ordered the attack, the dogs were just doing as they were told.http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/rr147/crickett85/punishthedeed-notthebreed.jpg
Fucking shame asshole there didn't get shot. Poor dogs didn't know any better.
And you can blame the deed directly on the sick prick who brought up dogs trained to protect him while he perpetrated crimes against others. I STILL wish he'd got shot!

Amen Crikett!! These dogs were innocent victims as well. I totally understand why the officer had to kill one, and sadly, the other one will more than likely be put down because the POS trained him/her to be vicious. ASSHOLES like this are why the Pit Bull breed constantly gets the rap it does. Sure there are just some that are vicious, due to the way they were bred, handled, bought up. But there are some that are as gentle and sweet as any other breed or mixed breed. I grew up around Pits and never had a problem with them. However, as an adult I have encountered real dumb asses with these dogs that shouldn't be allowed to live unsupervised, let alone be responsible for another living creature. Stories like this just infuriate me....those poor dogs...I wish that POS would get something for what he did to those dogs!!

It's the dogs that pay the price. Not the ass-wipe owner who trained them to be that way. He probably is engaged in dog fighting.

Stupid piece of shit. :argh:
