A Sheboygan therapist is accused of victimizing people who had been sexually abused and were seeking his help.

State investigators said the abuse happened at an in-patient Sheboygan rehabilitation center.

Coworkers at Genesis Behavioral Services told investigators they got suspicious when 45-year-old John Monacelli started spending an “unusual” amount of one-on-one time with one of his female patients.

Monacelli worked as a therapist at the drug rehab center.

Investigators said Monacelli sexually assaulted two of his patients -- a man and a woman -- on several different occasions in October of 2007.

The male patient said Monacelli counseled him about sexual abuse he suffered as a child.

He said Monacelli told him the only way to forget the abuse was to “relive it and realize that it was not that bad."

On at least three different occasions the patient said the therapist exposed himself and made him perform sex acts on him.

Investigators said Monacelli threatened his patient and told him not to tell anyone.

During the same time period, the female patient told investigators Monacelli encouraged her to talk about her past sexual encounters.

Investigators said the man fondled the patient, exposed himself and had sexual intercourse with her over several weeks time.

Monacelli is out of custody, but didn't answer the door at his Menomonee Falls, Wis., home.

He faces eight counts of sexual exploitation by a therapist that could result in a sentence of up to 100 years in prison and a $200,000 fine if convicted.

Monacelli is due in Sheboygan County Court on Monday.

Well I guess there's nothing like having to relive your abuse as a child and then be raped by the doctor who's supposed to help you.

I really really hope that Bubba and the guys in cell block D give it back to him ten fold!

This guy gets off with probation and a 2 year -at the most- loss
of his medical license.

Here in Wisconsin there is zero chance this guy goes to jail...

Believe me I would LOVE too. But Wisconsin is so liberal we make California look Conservative....

This whole we can't punish bad acts mentality that Wisconsin Judges have just breeds more crime, I can see this why can't they?

Liberal, Conservative...It makes no difference to me. It makes me just insane that the the Judges let these people back out on the street with a slap on the wrist. And then wonder WHY they keep seeing the same people in their courtrooms.

You would think at some point, someone somewhere, would get smart and actually sentence these clowns to jail, and that eventually the criminals would get the message.

I have always believed in the whole "Do the crime do the time" attitude, but these Judges up here just don't get it.

I was born and grew up in Wisconsin.

Liberal?? WHAT? No way. Maybe it depends where in WI were talking about here.

When I moved to Southern Cali in my 20's , yea that's fairly liberal. Living in Vermont now.....there so damn liberal makes me wanna hurl :puke:

But WI? I think not. I won't go into detals san personal details, but I know firsthand that the justice system there is hardass.

As they say about WI....come on vacation.....leave on probation :hahaha:

Oh yes, I'm from La Crosse.

Leave on Probation...exactly the problem. Most of the Judges in my Metroplex of South eastern WI -with the exception of Waukesha which is my county- Are all too willing to plea down a case in exchange for typically probation.

Milwaukee County is Notorious for putting people on probation, they don't want to build more jails. All they want to do is keep throwing more money into Social Services to "help" the criminal element.

Crystal Keith remember her? She was charged with 1st degree RECKLESS Homicide.(Which carries a max sentence of 60 years) She should have been charged with 1st Degree intentional homicide. (Which is LIFE imprisonment) but for whatever reason they want her to maybe get out, even though she killed a baby.

And therein lies my point....Why should a murderer EVER have a chance to get out of prison? Especially a baby killer!!!

LaCrosse you say...Do you know any one named Reinders? They are cousins of mine and Dave Reinders taught at Aquinas High School until about 1993.
