ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Three teens face burglary and possibly child-abandonment charges for breaking into Del Norte High School while leaving a 1-year-old boy home alone.

What the trio-two boys and a girl-didn't know was that they tripped a silent alarm when they smashed windows to get into the school, according to Albuquerque Public Schools police. Security cameras also recorded their every move.

When police arrived they reported hearing loud noises. Minutes later they arrested Larry Desantiago, 15, and David Medina, 14.

They also used pepper spray on Juanita Gonzales, 15, as she tried to run away. Gonzales left her 1-year-old nephew at home so she and two others could break into the school, police said.

In all the teens are believe to be responsible for breaking half a dozen windows and starting a fire in at least one trash can. One of them also held a knife.

Surveillance video showed the vandals were at the school for a while. Police said Gonzales, who'd been trusted to watch her nephew, instead left him home by himself during that time.

For a second I thought they broke into a school and left a baby THERE.
