El Paso Police say a man threw a 2-year-old child from a moving vehicle just before he hit a guard rail and crashed.

Alfonso Israel De Leon, 34, of California, has been arrested and charged with injury to a child.

El Paso Police were called...about 1 a.m. on Saturday in reference to a crash. Investigators learned De Leon had thrown a 2-year-old boy from his vehicle just prior to crashing. The boy was transported to Thomason Hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.

De Leon has been booked into the El Paso County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Elsewhere I've read that there was another child in the car and that the motive is unknown.

EL PASO, Texas -- At around 1 a.m. Saturday El Paso Police responded to the 6600 block of Gateway East after calls a car had collided with a guard rail.
After police arrived, they realized the driver, 34-year-old Alfonso Israel De Leon, had thrown a 2-year-old boy from his car.

The toddler was taken to Thomason Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

De Leon was arrested and taken booked in the El Paso County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Police have yet to release a motive for the man throwing the boy, or if alcohol was involved.

Sources close to the investigation told ABC-7 De Leon told investigators the devil told him to toss the toddler out of the moving vehicle. He is being held at the El Paso County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond

"It's bizarre. I've never seen anything like it," said El Paso police spokesman Darrel Petry. "A witness saw something come out of the car, and they saw something move."

Alfonso Israel De Leon, 34, of San Rafael, Calif., was driving when he threw a young boy out of his car. De Leon then crashed his car into a guard rail. The news reported this on Sunday, Dec. 21. The boy, 2, was treated at Thomason Hospital. The boy will survive.

Alfonso De Leon was driving through El Paso, en route to California when he threw out the boy. There was also a girl, aged 4, inside the vehicle. Police refused to reveal the relationship of De Leon to the children.
