WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control officers are trying to find who severely injured a dog found inside a plastic bag in a Dumpster on Friday.

A passer-by heard a dog crying and found the canine in a trash bin on Stacey Street at about 3 p.m.

The person who found the dog flagged down a deputy, and Animal Care and Control was called.

Animal Care and Control officers said the dog suffered major trauma and that there were major injuries to the animal's eyes.

Oh hey, I found more information on this story. Poor little thing...

Dog found severly injured in dumpster, owner heartbroken

A Palm Beach County woman is heartbroken, after her pet was found in a dumpster near her home - injured and left for dead.

The dog was taken to Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control, where it's fighting for its life.

"It shocked me, I couldn't believe it," said Carlisa Franklin.

With tears in her eyes, the dog owner reacts to what neighbors had just told her. That her dog was found in a dumpster right across from her apartment, barely alive.

"I'm not good, because I had no idea. And they said he was yelping in the bag when they took him," added Franklin.

According to officials with Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control, the terrier mix was pulled out of a dumpster along Brandywine Drive, Friday afternoon. The severely injured dog was placed, with garbage, inside a garbage bag.

A passerby heard cries and flagged down a sheriff's deputy who rescued the dog.

The dog, who Franklin says is named Bad-Bad, was taken to animal control with a list of injuries, including a fractured skull and possible neck injuries. Franklin says she was told someone hit Bad-bad with a vehicle, and thinking he was dead, threw him away.

This story is just tearing my heart apart.

Years ago we had a doberman and we live in the country but on a main road. She was hit by a car, but the driver of the car stopped at the country store right across the street from my house. Anyhow, he took the time to go into the store and asked if they knew who owned the dog and they told him. So this nice young man comes to our house to let us know what happened. Of course I was devastated. However, I was very appreciative he let us know instead of driving away and us finding Libby on the side of the road.

Poor doggie. I hope he makes it...yelps from a injured dog sound much like a child in pain.
I'm hoping the person that found him makes it a good sign he will live.

Dumpster Dog Abused

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Investigators say a dog found in a dumpster near West Palm Beach Friday may have been abused, not accidentally hit by a car as first thought.

They say they have identified a "person of interest", But they won't release any further details.

The adult terrier, a male about one year old, was found Friday afternoon in a dumpster near Haverhill Road and Stacy Street.

The badly-injured dog was in a plastic trash bag, still alive, along with beer cans, cigarette butts and fast-food receipts.

He has a skull fracture, swollen neck, a severe eye injury, and drifts in and out of consciousness.

They give him a 50-50 chance of survival.

Poor baby. Even if the dog was hit by a car, WHY would you put the dog in a trash bag and just leave the owners wondering?
God help this little angel.

Yeah, I know it sounds horrible, but if someone did hit one of my dogs and think it was dead, I'd really prefer it if they left it by the side of the road for me to locate rather than bag it up and contact no one.

New information on that injured dog found in a dumpster recently in West Palm Beach at an apartment complex.
Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control says according to a witness, the dog was drop-kicked in the head and flew out the doorway of a second floor apartment, and bounced all the way down the stairs and landed on the ground below.
Someone heard yelping coming from a dumpster, and found the dog in a plastic trash bag in the dumpster on Stacy Street December 19. Originally, investigators were told the pet was accidentally hit by a car.
The terrier-mix, an adult about one-year old, suffered a skull fracture and had one of its eyeballs dislodged in the incident. Veterinarians will not be able to save that eye. Dianne Sauve, director of Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control says the dog's health is improving and it's now able to walk and is eating solid food. No one has been charged. She says they have identified a "person of interest" they want to question.

Thank God the little guy didn't die. I pray that he'll make a swift recovery and be placed in a loving home.
I wonder if the owner did this, the one who was so shocked when she found out.

Yes thank God. I love dogs, they just love you back so unconditionally and if the owner or someone in her apartment did this to this poor little dog, they should be charged with the max penalty they can get!!
