http://i41.tinypic.com/b8pd12.jpgThe Horry County Police Department has arrested and charged two people in connection with the death of a 3-year-old child.

The child's step-father, Jason Marshall, 24, was charged with homicide by child abuse and the child's mother, 20-year-old Christa Marshall, was charged with unlawful neglect of a child.

Jason Marshall brought the toddler, Audrey OBerry, in to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center because she was unresponsive after allegedly falling.

She was then transferred to McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, where she died the next day around 8 a.m.

An autopsy revealed the cause of death was closed head trauma. The police statement says there were also several bruises on her body.

Detectives interviewed Marshall, who told them he pushed the child against a wall at the family home in Myrtle Beach because he was irritated with her, which is when she became unresponsive.

He also told them he had hit OBerry in the past, causing the bruising. He did this with Christa Marshall knowing about it.http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/135/story/715874.html

I'm rather sure this is the 3 yr. old he said is one of "the best things to ever happen to him"...

Maybe not killing her would have expressed more love.

Rest in peace little Audrey...

yah, I was just reading about the no funeral thing, but they didnt say why, only "the family of a toddler that died Friday morning, is requesting no funeral services for the child." Not even sure what that means. is that a burial but no viewing??

Man oh man, he is the step-daddy and she is preggers again, What the hell. Looks like they havent been married that long so he must have beem treating her like this the whole time.

according to the police statement. Christa Marshall knew he was hitting the girl, the statement says.

From our family to those posting...thank you so much for your prayers. We are stuggling so much with this sudden death. Audrey's maternal grandparents need all the strength and prayers possible. They helped raise her from the day she was born til Chrissi took her from PA to SC in early 08. Chrissi was a good girl who got mixed up with the wrong guy and our family did what we could to stop her and begged her to come home to us. just like samspad said this little girl stole your heart at a glance! I was there the day Audrey was born and it was such a blessing to have her in our family. Words cannot express. God took her from our family for a reason and now we know it was to end the abuse and have her safe in His arms. My Pap was waiting with open arms for her in heaven and now Audrey is in her forever safe home! We will miss her dearly.

We have known this sweet little girl and her mother almost since her birth. We do not know of any time that her mother or her grandparents ever raised their voices at her. She was a sweet little baby who could steal your heart at a glance. We did not know the step father, who Chrissy had married just a few months ago and took the baby to S.C. There is no way this baby could have upset this man(not man but slime) that badly that he could have bashed her head into a wall. He has to be the scum of the earth. I hope the other prisoners find out what he did and make him suffer before killing him. Also, I can not believe that he may get only 20 years to life for this act of brutally. He should be tortured and then excecuted. He will probably get the minimum and then get off with good behavior. God help the people who allow this monster to get away with this.

The woman charged with unlawful neglect of a child in connection with the death of her 3-year-old daughter got out of jail on bond Tuesday.

Christa is out of jail on a $100,000 bond.

Jason's father tells NewsChannel 15 that Christa's parents will hold funeral services for the child in their homestate of Pennsylvania.
