A woman is recovering from severe injuries and her husband is in custody after he allegedly confined her in his home for days.
Lathrop authorities said that they were called to the San Joaquin County General Hospital at 12:40 p.m. on Thursday after a call that a woman had been beaten while unlawfully detained.
Deputies said that the 26-year-old woman told them her husband held her captive for six days and repeatedly attacked her.
The woman suffered bruises, swelling, bite marks and a cut to her flank. Deputies said that her eyes were swollen shut as well.
Authorities said that there was also bruising to her entire face and what appeared to be ligature marks around her neck.
Investigators said that the woman had been married to her husband, Dion Rubio, for three years and 10 months.
The woman told deputies that Rubio accused her of cheating on him after finding a diary that belonged to his sister.
Doctors said that in all, the woman suffered severe blunt force trauma, bite wounds, a superficial knife wound to the left flank, a perforated ear drum, abrasions, soft tissue swelling and a bruised sternum.
Deputies said that when they went to the home, Rubio made comments that he wouldn't be taken alive and would go out "suicide by cop."
Negotiators were able to talk him out of his Harlan Road home without incident.
Rubio was arrested and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on felony counts of inflicting corporal injury to spouse, criminal threats, false imprisonment, damaging telephone lines and assault with a deadly weapon.
