There is a bizarre and gruesome murder case unfolding in Laclede County in Central Missouri. A woman's body was discovered stuffed inside a plastic tool box- the body encased in concrete. The Missouri Highway Patrol in Rolla is investigating the case along with the Laclede County Sheriff's Department. At this point, investigators still don't know who the victim is and they're asking the public for help.
"It is extremely unusual to have something like this," said Laclede County Sheriff Richard Wrinkle.
Wrinkle says this is the strangest case he's ever seen in his 37 years in law enforcement. He says that concrete covered much of the body- the woman was wearing pajamas with no shoes or socks.
He explained, "She was basically sitting in the box with her knees up and the concrete was poured over her."
Two deer hunters found the box and body on the morning of November 15th off Highway AA outside Lebanon. The box was in a ditch off the roadway. It took four sheriff's deputies to lift the body and box and take everything to Springfield.
"At the autopsy, the assistant medical examiner used a hammer and a big chisel to chip the concrete and get it out," said Wrinkle.
The woman is described as white, five feet five inches tall to five feet eight inches tall and 135 to 150 pounds. She is 25 to 45 years old with brown hair seven to ten inches long. Wrinkle says the victim has other distinguishing features as well.
"(She has) no tattoos unless they could have been on the lower extremities which were to badly decomposed too tell; only one piercing in each ear; she had had a full hysterectomy; she had had gall bladder removal," explained Wrinkle.
The sheriff also tells us the woman had dental work done and her fingernails were manicured.
"This is somebody's mother, sister, and we need to identify her and get her back to her family and find out who's responsible," said the sheriff.
Wrinkle believes the woman had been killed seven to ten days before she was found. He thinks she was killed somewhere else then dumped off Highway AA. Investigators have been checking missing persons files, but so far no match.

Having had a hysterectomy, I would have to guess she is closer to 45 than 25.

Sounds like someone went to alot of work to cover this one up. I hope she was already deceased before he poured the cement. How Horrid.

Yeah, my thoughts too regarding hoping she was deceased before the cement was poured.

Well, there are definitely some medical reasons that a younger woman might have a full hysterectomy. Obviously, you're right, and it would be more likely in an older woman, but a hysterectomy alone certainly doesn't preclude her being younger.

They should be able to identify her by her dental records
That's a small town in Tennessee, there can't be that many Dentists there.

The concrete was bugging me a bit because you wouldn't do that unless the whole thing was going into some body of water, not into some ditch in the side of the road. I checked googlle and did a satellite view, This place is pretty small town near by with lots of raw woodland.
Hwy AA doesn't really go that far. The highway leads to an area of the Niangua River and campgrounds frequented by out of towner's from the Kansas City area. So that had to have been the original drop off point. Something went wrong though and it never made it there. There is a exit for this place off I-44 and no one locally is missing, so it had to have been a out of towner who did it. I never trust truckers there always up to no good and I see them on crime shows all the time. Still something that big you need at a minimum 2 people to get it off the vehicle , probly more.
The body was stuffed inside a black plastic tool box found in a ditch
on Route AA. The highway leads to an area of the Niangua River and campgrounds frequented by Kansas City area residents, according to Sheriff Richard Wrinkle.
The box appeared to be new, had two padlocks and an internal lock.
The hunter detected a foul odor and saw liquid seeping from the box.
Further investigation revealed that the box contained a partially
decomposed female encased in cement. An autopsy ruled the death to be homicide.
The woman had a surgical scar on her lower abdomen, a hysterectomy and gall bladder surgery. That should narrow it down a bit as well as she was wearing her jammies so she had to be abducted from her home.
The victim, who remains unidentified, was a white female, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-8, 135-150 pounds, light brown or brown hair 7-10 inches long, somewhere between 25-45 years old, no tattoos (lower legs/feet too
decomposed for examination), hysterectomy scar, gall blatter had been
removed, manicured nails, dental work, one piercing in each ear, and
the hands were not callused. Victim was dressed in pajamas with no
underwear or bra, no shoes or socks.

I don't know, I had mine in my early 30's.
Strangely enough, my ex hubby went to college in Rolla. He enjoys an annual visit back there around this time of year. *shivers*

Her Hubby did it!!! Turns out she was 57 years old, so a hysterectomy scar wouldn't have been unreasonable. That body must have been pretty damn decomposed to get a age of 25-45 and she turns out to be almost 60. There is a heck of allot of difference between a 25 year old bones and a 60 year olds bones.
LEBANON, MO (AP) -- A judge rules that the husband of a southern Missouri woman whose body was found encased in concrete inside a toolbox can be tried for the woman's murder.
Horst Gunter Sabla was in LaClede County Court Wednesday for his preliminary hearing, where Judge Larry Winfrey found probable cause to try him for first-degree murder. Deer hunters found Sharon Sabla's body in a box in a wooded area in Laclede County on Nov. 15.
She was identified after Sheriff Richard Wrinkle received a tip that she was missing.
A probable cause statement said the 57-year-old woman died from a small-caliber gunshot wound to the back of the head.
The statement also said Horst Sabla admitted to shooting her Aug. 9, putting her body in a black plastic cargo box and then filling the box with lime and concrete a few days later.

The lime is the answer to your question. Changes the decomp game a lot.

I was going to say - in that picture of her, she looks fantastic for pushing sixty. That whole gall bladder thing placed her older for me, rather than the hysterectomy. I know some young women who had to have hysterectomies, but I don't know anyone with gall bladder problems requiring surgery under 40 - mid 30s at youngest. It could happen of course - just seems rarer than early hysterectomy.
And while just leaving her might've solved this guy's problems, it seems equally likely he could've killed her because she was leaving him.
