HOLY MOTHERFUCKING SHIT!!!!!!! we have a goddamn teaser trailer for Duke Nukem: Forever! I had almost completely forgot this game even existed. Here is a link right to the 3D Realms website:

http://www.3drealms.com/

All that I can say is this. WOW. I'm sorry if I sound really "fanboy-ish" right now, but I grew up on Duke Nukem 3D. It was like the game that got me started into gaming. This is by far the most anticipated video game sequel I've ever waited for (and it doesn't help that its been in production for damn near 10 years)

Hopefully this is a sign that things are finally picking up at 3D Realms.

I hear they are not just making this for the PC. It will also come out on the PS5 and the XBox 1080.

This game lost my attention back in 2001, and close to 7 years later - it's still not here.
That teaser is a load of old shit. 10 years for that?!

3D Realms must think we are cunts. They can fuck off.

I'm not feeling the hatred that Stoney nor Swivel have.

Am I surprised that the game is finally coming out now? No, I'm not even remotely surprised. 3DRealms finally got around to finishing the awesome Prey last year and I figured this would be the next project. From the quick gameplay clips featured in the trailer, it does look like this game will also be on the id games engine for Doom 3.

Although I'm not surprised, am I excited? You are goddamn right I am. I'll never forget playing Duke Nukem 3d for the first time about eleven years ago. I was completely floored. It was violent, sexist, and funny as hell. If this game can hold that same standard then I'm all for it. I'll buy it upon release, etc, etc.

Thanks for the link KillBill20. Much appreciated.

If you loved the old Dukes like I did, you will avoid any future games featuring the old chap.

If I could go back in time, I would never have watched any Star Wars after the original trilogy. No touch-up fuck-jobs. No prequels. None of that shit. Seeing more of what I loved made me love the thing less due to association with pure shit.

Same thing with the Matrix trilogy. I wish I could "un-watch" the last two movies. They ruined what was, for me, the best movie ever made.

So. If you have never heard of Duke Nukem, or hated the original ones, give the upcoming game a play. If you are a real fan, let's start learning from our mistakes and not make decisions based on misguided nostalgia. All we will do is ruin our old love.

It is impossible for this game to be anything but shit, shit and more shit.

I loved Duke Nukem 3D. Adored it. Had all the expansion levels and packages as well. I actually preferred it to Doom when it came to replay appeal.
But this is just not good enough from 3D Realms. It's been 10 years.......

I know a lot of Duke fans are pretty pissed at 3D Realms for pushing this game back so many freaking times now, if I remember right it was originally going to be 1999, then 2001, then I remember 2003 at some point as a possible release date... and then you've got to factor in the fact the game was originally announced in what 1997. I'm sure everyone pretty much just assumed the game was DOA and we'd never hear from it again.

With that being said I'm super excited about the game again. I'm a Duke Fan, through and through. I don't understand how anyone could label the game "shit" when we lithely know nothing about the game at this point (other than the fact that it'll be Duke Nukem back on the PC where he belongs).

And really... who cares if its taken the guys at 3D Realms 10 years to make a sequel to Duke 3D? It's just a video game, after all. As far as I'm concerned as long as its a good game, it'll be worth the wait.

Trust me Kyle, this game is utter shit. But don't worry, it won't be released. And when they use the UT2011 engine to make the real game, I'm sure it will be fun.

I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if its blatantly wrong :p

Anyhow... back to Duke. Here is a cool little "interview" with 3D Realms big-wig George Broussard. Talking about... what else, Duke Nukem: Forever.

http://blog.shacknews.com/blogarticle.x/50481

Here are a couple of highlights from the interview:

oatmela: what engine is it using? Not bashing at all, just curious.

Broussard: Unreal. I believe we branched off somewhere around the Unreal 2 time when they added static meshes. Since then we've redone the rendering 100% and it's a fully modern engine.

smacknca: any regrets breaking the long media silence with this teaser? its pretty obvious many people didnt quite get the whole 'this is just a teaser made by some cool folks at 3DR for the holidays and we wanted to share with the world'

Broussard: Gotta start somewhere. No regrets. With our development history if you let regrets bother you, you'd jump off the nearest roof. Onward and upward.

Be sure to check out the full (be it short) interview. Just hearing someone (who actually knows what they're talking about) say that it'll be a fully modern engine should pretty much put to rest all this crap about the game being three-four years behind everything else on the market. I guess only time will tell.

It's using the Unreal engine? Really? Looked like the Doom 3 engine to me, but I could be wrong.

Him saying that it is being built with a new engine doesn't get me excited. Each variation of the game was being built on some sort of new (at the time) engine. But, each time the project ends up failing.

I have faith that this version will be the one to finally get it out of vaporware territory. You wouldn't have caught me saying that if it wasn't for Prey. Prey had been in development almost as long as DNF and it turned out to be fantastic.

Basically I think 3D has re-wrote the entire Unreal Engine, making it an (almost) entirely new version of engine. Judging on a couple of the (very small) stills, and the teaser trailer... it does in fact look a hell of a lot like the Doom 3 Engine. That can only mean good things by my book... as Doom 3 was a fantastic game.

And I think you're right... this may finally be leading up to the release of the game. And for the record Prey was first announced in 1995.... so it took them damn near 11 years to release that one. So I guess you can say that all this time.... Duke Nukem: Forever has been right on schedule! :D

I don't think I'll play it. I'll probably have arthritis in my hands by the time it comes out anyways.

Pretty cool Kyle, Nice use of the "Requiem For A Dream" Music!

Fixed.

Requiem For A Dream - Composed by Cilnt Mansell, performed by the Kronos Quartet.

One the most wonderfully depressing movies I have ever seen. I love it and Aronofsky. By far one of my favorite directors.

Of course this was remixed for Lord Of The Rings and I think again for Sunshine. So technically, you are right.

You are on the money Kakihara. You have no idea how many times I've heard people say that they love the score from LOTR only for me to tell them it's from Requiem For A Dream (the much better film of the two IMHO). People look at me like I'm an idiot and ask what Requiem is....

I just love that music, It's in the trailer for Sunshine but not in the film!
I watched the movie waiting to hear this music but I never did!
I do have Requiem For A Dream on DVD so I'll be re watchin' it now! Thanks! :D

By the way the Sunshine version is a little harder during the corus.
