A Mountain Home man was sentenced to 60 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction for attempted rape.

Bobby C. Anderson, 39, pleaded no contest to criminal attempt to commit rape, criminal attempt to commit aggravated robbery, aggravated residential burglary and terroristic threatening.

On April 13, Anderson broke into a Mountain Home residence and confronted the female victim while he was nude, wearing a mask and holding a butcher knife, according to court documents. At one point he told the victim he wanted money, said 14th Judicial District Prosecutor Ron Kincade.

After a struggle, the victim was able to run outside and scream for help and Anderson ran away, according to court documents. He was arrested about an hour later at his residence on North Street, authorities said.

During a suppression hearing last week, Anderson testified he had used about seven grams of meth over a three-day period before his arrest.

Judge John Putman sentenced Anderson to 30 years for criminal attempt to commit rape and 30 years for attempted aggravated robbery, to be served consecutively. He also was sentenced to 40 years for aggravated residential burglary and six years for terroristic threatening, to be served at the same time as the other sentences.
