When Maura McGarrity was approached to foster a stray Pit Bull that had been dumped at the local shelter...well...she wasn't too sure.
His name was Cinder. He's kinda old, about 7 years old. He was very sick and extremely underweight, covered in his own feces and urine and pretty cut up.
But, he wouldn't stop giving her doggie kisses...so home with her he went. He quickly became fast friends with her pug, Gizmo. The two sleep, eat and play together.
Not long afterwards, Maura returned home from work to find her door damaged. Someone had apparently tried to break in...but had been thwarted. As she went to take Cinder out, she noticed that her neighbors door had been completely shattered. Cinder began barking furiously as they neared the door. Going outside, she quickly called 911.
It was noted, by the police, that the dogs were quiet and calm. Until the police photographer just touched the door handle to Mauras apartment. Then Cinder started barking ferociously.
Nothing was missing from Mauras apartment. However; her neighbor had lost quite a lot of his personal belongings. Before they left a policeman told her neighbor: "You really should get a dog, because that dog right there (pointing to Cinder) is the reason she and her house are safe and untouched>"
Way to GO CINDER!!! http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/rr147/crickett85/Cinder_Pit_BullSMALL.jpg
