David Lee Simpson
BRYSON CITY – The family of a man accused of breaking the legs of his 4-month-old twin sons because they got on his nerves says he isn't a violent person and was a good father to his older daughter.
David Lee Simpson, 28, of Smoky Mountain Court Apt. 8, Bryson City, is charged with two counts of felony child abuse.
An investigator said Friday that the boys had broken legs and broken toes. One had a fractured skull, and the other a concussion. One child's rib was pulled away from his rib cage, and both had severe bruising under their arms.
“It just doesn't seem like David,” said his mother Laurie Simpson, who lives in Missouri, where David Simpson is from. “It ain't the David that I know.”
His father, Cliff Simpson, agreed. He said his son was would rather walk away from a fight than hit someone else. “It's not him,” he said. “It is not his characteristic to hurt people.”
He said his son was never violent with his 8-year-old daughter from a previous marriage. The girl lives with her grandparents in Missouri. He was arrested after a doctor at Mission Hospitals in Asheville alerted social workers to severe injuries to his children.
She said the case is the worst one of abuse she has seen in 16 years in law enforcement. Hyatt questioned Simpson about the attacks.
“He said the abuse was because that he felt that he had to baby-sit every weekend with these children and they would cry and get on his nerves,” she said. “That was his explanation of it.”
Hyatt said the twins are living with their mother's family. They are expected to recover, she said. The abuse appears to have happened over a period of several weeks, Hyatt said.

Baby sit??? WTF????? They're HIS kids...WTF does he mean by "babysit"...
And maybe "It just doesn't seem like David" because he won't assault another adult. Maybe because they'd hit him back!
Fucking worthless piece of shit! I hope that you spend a lot of time in prison trying to explain your baby beating self to Bubba and his buddies...
Here's a little something for your precious nerves http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/rr147/crickett85/th50cal.jpg

I'm guessing his wife had a weekend job to support the family. If he didn't want to 'babysit', his worthless ass should've been out there working on the weekends.

I have a few questions:
Why is his 8 year old living with grandparents and wasn't living with either him or the mother?
Why are the twins now living with the mothers family and not the mother?
And why does he refer to looking after HIS children as babysitting them?
And less not even ask why a person would actually break bones on a child, let alone there own babies!!
Good riddens, I hope your precious babies never see you again!

I was wondering the same things!!!
Here's something I don't get babies with injuries like broken bones tend to be alot more fussy than normal infants. Wouldn't it be easier to leave them to cry than to deal with the after affects of the issues caused by taking out your frustrations on them. Not to mention how do you hurt a baby especially your own. I just don't get it!!!!:stupido3:

The mother has not been rulled out as a child beater. The abuse has been going on a few weeks, so she is still a suspect.
Niki Hawkins says she knew the babies were in trouble months ago. Simpson, his girlfriend, and their twins lived with Hawkins' daughter in Alarka. During her visits to their trailer, she says she saw horrible things that no child should be exposed to. "The house was trashed. I mean, there was trash everywhere. The smell was unreal when you walked in the house." Those kinds of things are the reasons she says several people called DSS and asked workers to check on the infants. Hawkins says DSS workers also saw the filth but did nothing for months.
News 13 spoke with David Simpson's ex-wife Brenda Nations who lives in Missouri. They have an 8 year old daughter. Nations says she can't picture David doing anything like this and that he never got violent with her or their daughter.
Hmmm, so why is your daughter living with granney???

Breaking bones, scalding water, starving, just plain old beating... the methods of parenting presented in these forums are bit odd, for the least. It has never dawned on me those methods could be very effective in order to punish a child, to parent them, to toughen them up not to mention MAKE THEM STOP CRYING.
And that's figured out just with common sense. Don't need a parenting class for that. What's going on in these people's head???? Don't wanna know, really.
I hope those babies will NEVER see their daddy again. Or maybe when they grow up and are bigger than him - I bet he'll get on their nerves then.
Heal well, baby boys!

I'm a granny. The only way my grandkids would be living with me is if the parents were idiot pond scum incapable of true parenting. I see no other reason to re-raise kids.
This family is fucked up in so many ways that I'm not even sure the grandparents are capable of raising kids unless they learned from their mistakes (the first set they created)

I had to fp this asshole after reading this.....
Authorities found out about the abuse during a routine checkup. The doctor noticed both boys had bruises all over their bodies. Further examination uncovered broken legs, ribs, toes, skull fractures, and concussions. "He was squeezing the kids when they would cry. He was twisting their toes, breaking their toes, he would twist their ears," says Swain County Sheriff Curtis Cochran.

Its funny how hard the family is sticking up for these Pus Buckets. They bring new meaning to the term trailer trash.
Investigators say the abuse started when the twins were just a month old. That's also the last time the babies had a bath. More charges are pending against Simpson but there is still no word on whether the babies' mother will be charged.
Lets see 4 month old babys, that would mean they have'nt got a bath in 3 friggin months. Geez what outstanding parents. They live in a pig stye , dont even bother bathing there children and leave the 2 boys with a man who gets his kicks torturing them.

News parents, your son IS violent.
He didn't walk away because he's a weak, pathetic excuse for a father....oh, and babies who are 4 months old are defenseless and can't walk away, can't defend themselves. He knew he could take his frustrations out and not get hit back...so that makes your sorry-ass son a baby-beating bastard!
Sweet ones, heal and be perfect again.

I always found that a nice warm bath , an all over rub with baby lotion and a good feed helped my babies off to sleep better than twisting their ears , toes and fracturing their legs !

Hey now all of us trailer trash don't beat our kids or make them live in filth;) I totally agree I have never ever thought to myself "this baby won't stop crying!Maybe if I hurt it,that will make it stop" WTF is wrong with people? Hurting your kids to make them stop crying seems totally counter-productive to me...

Thats the part that is the hardest for me to understand. How abuseing the child and tourturing them , would make the screaming stop.
I am a twin and I have been around lots of baby twins. I know they are a handful and can be much harder to deal with than a single child. But makeing one sream louder only makes the other one do the same thing, so you have twice as much noise than you did before. Hardly a solution to his problum, unless he was getting some kind of sick sadistic joy over it.

There are so many questions and precious few answers.
1. If he was such a "good" dad, why was his older daughter living with grandparents?
2. If there were repressed feelings from his brother's death, don't you think he would have "flipped" before now???? It's been 8 years.
3. His anger was like shaking a can of soda? WTF is that all about!?
Now the twins and the older daughter are living with someone other than the biological parents (thank god), but what does it say about the kind of people these folks are????? Obviously neither of the mother's are any more capable than he is!
Some people just shouldn't breed.

"it ain't the David that I know." Obviously you don't know him too well, dip shit. He's good with his 8 year old daughter. You mean the 8 year old daughter that he's NOT raising? Get a fucking clue people.

That accually says allot about him, that a girl was safe and little boys were not. It would probly indicate that he himself was treated that way and in some twisted part of his mind, thats how screaming little boys were dealt with. Though I would guess it happened later on in his life like 3 to 5 years old so it made a bigger impression on his subconsious.
It could also be he was never left around the girl as much as he was the twins. And his ex wife did most of the baby duties.

OMG, did I read that correctly?? The babies hadn't been bathed for 3 months!!!!!!!!!!
Now surely just basics like food, keeping them clean with a bath and fresh clothes (at least every few days), changing nappies and providing a safe sleep area would certainly ease their crying. Of course, in some families it seems a hug and some kind words of love is optional but just the basics would have at least kept them safe physical.
I really must have read the bath bit wrong, that just can't be right.

No you read it right, The family lived in a PIG STYE, the last time the babys had a bath was when they were a month old, 3 months ago. I know what you mean though , i had to read it like 5 times to get it to soak into my brain what the article was saying.( I even went to a website and looked the word up to make sure I was reading it right) That means Mommy Ass Hat is a piece of shit as well as her child abuseing fuckNut husband.

OMG! I'm still in shock. How can you not bath babies (or children) for 3 months!!
I feel like the worlds worst mother if my kids over 2 days. Showers are every second day unless needed more regularly for my kids and if they go over that I feel just terrible.
3 months without a bath!!!! The mum is just as messed up as the piece of shit dad. I hope these babies are never returned to their parents and can grow up in a loving home.
Ew... sorry, I'm still in disgust and shock. Babies sit in poo daily (usually), they dribble, vomit etc and need to be bathed!!

Reminds me of the Erin Maxwell case. Apprently as long as you give your kids scraps of food to eat, they can live in filth and DHS won't do anything. Newsflash to guy's parents, if he was a "good father" his daughter wouldn't be living with the grandparents. I hope he gets his legs twisted in prison, worthless piece of garbage

That is exactly what I mean. He doesn't sound like he was around the daughter as much. If he was and she was screaming, I wonder what he would do. Plus the grandparents have custody, so that's a red flag to me.

Yep, does'nt say much for them , especially after sticking up for this goober. But it does says there with the bio-mothers family. Hopefully there of a bit higher caliber trailer trash and dont have to many trucks in the front yard up on blocks.
