SECURITY--CO; El Paso County authorities are talking to a group of teenagers who took a fight into the neighborhood streets of Security. Early reports indicate it was an incident involving two groups of teenagers driving after each other ending with damaged property and several kids hurt.
The evidence of anger acted out glittered in swirling lights at the corner of Sherri Drive and Security Boulevard Wednesday night. Every window in a green Kia Sportage was smashed. The glass was scattered on neighborhood pavement.
"I blocked the crowbar from him,” said 17-year-old Dustin Amos.
Amos hurt his hand trying to protect his girlfriend as a group of teens swung bats and crowbars. At one point, he thought one of them might have had a gun.
"He said don't make me get my gat,” Amos said. “Something like that."
Dustin ran, for blocks, talking to his mom by cellphone. He ultimately stopped in the parking lot of North Elementary School.
"It's very scary when I hear the fear in his voice and you can't get to him," said his mom, Tina Rasmussen.
"One of our deputies actually saw a young person running his direction with a baseball bat in his hand,” Lieutenant Stan Presley said Wednesday night.
Deputies were already in the neighborhood investigating a different case at the time of Wednesday’s incident.
The cause of the confrontation is under investigation. On the surface, authorities report it was a disagreement taken too far between kids who may have to face some grown up consequences.
At least two teens involved are 18 years old. Authorities haven't announced if they've made any arrests. They have no proof a gun was ever involved.
