The woman was walking down the street when the two 5-year-old dogs, named Max and Marley, escaped from an unlocked fence and began attacking her.

Most of the attack was captured on video and shows the woman on the ground trying to defend herself while the two dogs alternate biting her.

You can also see as the owner of the dogs, along with passerbys, try everything from hitting the dogs with sticks, honking horns, and physically drag the dogs away from the woman – to no avail

When police showed up to the scene, the dogs were still attacking the woman so the officers fired five shots, killing both dogs. Plainfield Police Captain Ed Santiago  said he had no issues with the officers’ decision to act.

“The next bite of a dog like that could have been a jugular. It could have killed her,” he said. “They weren’t even paying attention to their owner.”

Neighbors said it wasn’t the first time the dogs had gotten loose. Police have issued the dogs’ owner four summonses for having vicious and unleashed dogs.

BANGOR, Maine

According to the girl’s mother, Cable was last seen near her home before she went to meet Dube, whom she met through Facebook. Dozens of law enforcement officers, using aircraft and dogs, and hundreds of civilian volunteers, spent days searching for Cable.

On the Wednesday following her disappearance, Cable’s mother pleaded for her daughter’s return during a press conference.

“I would like to say, ‘Nichole, we love you and if you’re scared because you ran away — you’re not in trouble. It’s OK,’” Kristine Wiley said. “If somebody has her — I don’t care [what happened] — take her to a gas station or a park. I don’t know what else to say. I’m waiting for you to call me and I love you.”

The day after Cable was reported missing, Dube posted the following to his Facebook regarding his girlfriend, who is not Cable:

“OK so I don’t with the droma. Let’s get this straight. I KYLE DUBE is and always will be with [my girlfriend]. We have had are up and downs but we have worked them out so stop talking to me if you are trying to flirt and guys you better stop hitting on [her] I get crazy when I’m pissed off and I’m about there.”

Cable’s best friend said Dube and Nichole had met on Facebook a couple of months earlier and had been hanging out with each other. On the Sunday she vanished, Cable and Dube were to meet because Dube was about to start serving a few months in jail. Dube was sentenced to 90-days in jail after he got in to a high-speed motorcycle chase in June of last year.

Three days after Dube showed up to jail to start serving his sentence, an officer with the Maine Warden Service and his dog found a girl’s body around 9:30 p.m. Monday. Investigators said they were searching the area where the body was found after receiving information from “several different sources.”

The following day, Kyle Dube was charged with intentional and knowing murder. No word on exactly what led police to Dube, but his neighbors say that his mother called police to report that Cable had been at her house visiting with her son a week earlier.

More information is supposed to be revealed when he makes his first court appearance later today.

DAYTON, IA

Authorities say Klunder abducted the two girls after they got off a school bus on Monday, luring the girls into his truck with the promise of them making money cutting grass. He then took the girls to a hog confinement farm about 15 miles south of Dayton.

There’s not a lot of details regarding what happened once the girls were at the farm, but the younger girl somehow managed to escape Klunder and make a run for it. She ended up at a neighboring farm where two men found the girl as she was crawling to them underneath a wire fence.

She was wearing shorts and a T-shirt, but had no shoes. She also had a thick zip tie cable around one of her wrists that one of the men cut free before grabbing a gun and running towards the hog confinement facility. He didn’t find anything there aside from tire tracks left by Klunder. Shepard was nowhere to be found.

The 12-year-old was taken to a Fort Dodge hospital and later released while police used the information she had given them to track down Klunder and, hopefully, Shepard. Authorities haven’t said what relationship the girls have to one another.

Police are searching where the girls were abducted, the rural area from where the 12-year-old escaped, and Klunder’s home. Authorities are searching a 75- to 100-square-mile area by air, water and land, and have deployed canine units. Volunteers also are conducting a foot patrol of the area and a recent report states the search has been expanded to the nearby Des Moines River.

This search wouldn’t even be going on had Klunder been in prison where he belongs. In 1992, Klunder kidnapped a 21-year old woman. He would be convicted of third-degree kidnapping, sentenced to 11 years in prison and placed on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry.

A year year earlier, Klunder was charged with kidnapping two Charles City 3-year-old girls who were later found alive and unharmed in a trash can 50 miles away. He pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree kidnapping and willful injury in that case. But for some reason, he only served half of the 41 years he was to serve in prison, and was released in Feb. 25, 2011.

“It is confusing for the public, and especially for victims, when they hear that someone has a 40 year sentence and in 20 years they’re walking out the door,” said Fred Scaletta, Iowa Department of Corrections spokesman.

And that’s not all. Police in nearby Evansdale say they will look for a connection between Klunder and the kidnappings of Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins, the two cousins we reported on last July who went missing after going on a bike ride, and whose dead bodies would be found by hunters five months later.

U.S. District Judge Marco A. Hernandez, who sent Barnett back to the Oregon State Penitentiary with the extra time, feels Barnett  ”…has significant personality issues that remain unresolved.” Assistant U.S. Attorney John N. Parmley, a prosecutor called in from San Diego after the previous prosecutor fell victim to Barnett’s mischief, said of Barnett “The longer he stays in a controlled environment, the safer society will be.”

So what kind of douche-devilry draws such dire damnation? What manner of malevolence manifests such maligning? Threatening letters, anthrax hoaxes and poop… not necessarily in that order. Oh, and there’s even a torrid love affair with a not-really-hot-white-supremacist-spree-killer in there for you women folk.

Barnett’s streak starts back in 2008. Barnett, already in jail, mailed threatening letters to Washington County Sheriff Rob Gordon and three of his deputies. In August 2011, Barnett was moved to Portland’s Justice Center Jail, where he allegedly hurled a mixture of urine and feces at the face of Multnomah County Sheriff’s Deputy Brett S. Russell. According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Peifer, Russell actually and unfortunately ingested some of the delightful cocktail, which may or may not have earned him the nickname “Poopy Brett.”

In February of 2012, Barnett mailed a letter laden with racial slurs addressed to both Peifer and Senior U.S. District Judge Ancer L. Haggerty, who is African-American. Two short months later, Barnett mailed another letter to Peifer’s office, this one accompanied by a white powder. “Have you ever stopped and asked yourself: what it would feel like to slowly die from an infectious disease?” the note began.

It went on to describe the various symptoms associated with ‘bacillus anthracis’ which, for you non-biologists, is Latin for “Pretty Much Anthrax.” The letter rambled a bit towards the end, where Barnett added “I only want (three) things in life. 1. I want you gone!!!! 2. To see Pink Floyd live!!! 3. I want to lea(r)n VOODOO.” I have to wonder about just how boring this guy is. If I had to narrow my bucket list down to three things, at least two of them would involve hookers and a blowtorch, while approximately none would involve Pink Floyd.

Lauren Cargill, the receptionist at Peifer’s office who opened the letter, breathed in the powder and was forced to remain inside while the rest of the building was evacuated. “I no longer feel safe,” she said, testifying that she is suffering from PTSD and is even reluctant to open her own mail at home. The FBI found the contents of the letter, as well as a whopping five others sent by Barnett, to be harmless and traced them back to Barnett by way of fingerprints and DNA.

When it came to his defense, Barnett, representing himself, apologized to Lauren Cargill and stated “I am not a menace to society.” Clearly, the judge didn’t agree. This leaves only one question… what band is on your bucket list?

On Sunday, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office says they received a 911 call that a female hiker in Chautauqua Park was “high on mushrooms and in distress.” A total of 35 personnel from the BCSO, Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, Boulder Fire Rescue, the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, and an American Medical Rescue ambulance were dispatched to the location.

Rescuers found Powers, a University of Colorado undergrad, nude and being detained by two classmates. Rescuers had to handcuff Powers because she was continuing to struggle, and it took several rescuers to secure her inside a rescue basket.

Nearly two hours after first the first call was made, Powers was brought off the mountain and transported to a Boulder hospital, where she was treated and released. Taylor “Buzzkill” Powers was eventually cited for unlawful consumption of a controlled substance and “further charges are pending against others involved,” deputies reported.

While looking for more info on this story, I came across an article from last year regarding a Florida teen who ingested mushrooms and then shot himself in the head so he would wake up from, what he thought, was a nightmare.

Steven Tilbury, 17, said that he fell asleep soon after he and his friends had ingested the mushrooms. When he woke up, he said it felt like it wasn’t real and that he felt like he was awake in a terrible nightmare (been there, done that). He said he thought if he shot himself he would wake up from the bad dream. Surprisingly, he survived the shooting and doctors were able to remove the bullet from his head.

BATTLEBORO, NC

According to reports, the 24-year-old wanted some of a relative’s cheese on Friday, but the woman refused to give her any. In retaliation for not being given any cheese, Drake waited until the next morning and used a concoction of detergent, window cleaner and a household cleanser to poison the cheese.

When the rest of the family woke up and began to eat the cheese with their breakfast, one of them determined it was tainted and Poison Control was called. Police say medics had four of the family members drink milk to counteract the effects of the chemicals.

Drake seems to be having ongoing issues with her family, with some posts hinting that this latest cheese incident was just the straw that broke the came’s back.

“man i got alot goin on in my mind,” Drake posted on her Facebook page on March 31. “i got sum family issues i just want to be free and alone in my own house.” On March 20 she posted, “i just want to smoke me a blunt and relax cuz im so pissed off!!!!”

Tiara Drake was arrested and charged with five counts of attempted first-degree murder. She’s been jailed under $50,000 bond.

Town of Maine, NY

Police were called to Pease’s trailer after receiving reports of a small child running around the trailer park in the middle of the night. When officers arrived, they found Pease’s 5-year-old son running around the neighborhood with his dogs. They picked him up and took him back to his mother’s trailer.

The front doo to the trailer was wide open, and officers found Pease’s 1-year-old son in a playpen stewing in a dirty diaper. As for Pease, she was found passed out on the living room couch. With the help from responding medics, Pease was finally brought out of her stupor and admitted to taking some painkillers earlier.

Ericka Pease was arrested and transported to the Broome County Jail. She’s been charged with two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Her children were left in the custody of their father, who had showed up to the trailer shortly after police had arrived.  Child Protective Services has been notified of the incident.

Glorieta, New Mexico

Velasquez met the man at a Cinco de Mayo party, and the two engaged in some casual sex. After their whirlwind rendezvous, Velasquez supposedly told the man she would call the police and claim he raped her if he didn’t give her three payments of $500 over the next three Fridays.

She then went all psycho on his ass and started showing up at his work, as well sending him text messages threatening violence on him and his daughter. The man contacted police who had him call her to get audio recording where they heard “the suspect clearly threatened and extorted the victim.”

The man agreed to pay Velasquez and made plans to meet at a local Wal-Mart where he would give her the first payment. Instead of $500 bucks, she was welcomed by a swarm of police officers and was arrested at the scene. Not to be a Lolita to be messed around with, Velasquez had also brought along some male muscle packing a pellet gun.

Selena Velasquez was booked into the Santa Fe County Juvenile Detention Center and was released on Monday. It’s uncertain if Valesquez will be charged as an adult or not, but the victim is not facing any criminal charges. “It was a consensual encounter,” Sgt. Emmanuel Gutierrez said. “There was no crime because the age of consent is 16, and he was not in a position of authority over her.”

Houston, TX

The Houston Police Department say Munos-Munos drove through a red light and hit the Polk’s personal truck at approximately 3 a.m. Sunday. There were no skid marks on the road, signifying Munos-Munos didn’t even try to stop or slow down before the crash.

Munos-Munos suffered only minor injuries, while Sgt. Dwayne Polk would be pronounced dead on the scene. Polk had been with the sheriff’s office for 16 years, and was in uniform when he was killed. By Sunday afternoon, the intersection where Polk was killed had been turned into a memorial as friends and family left mementos and notes.

“Tough morning,” Sheriff Adrian Garcia tweeted. “The HCSO suffered a terrible loss & we are all grieving. Keep HCSO members & their families in your prayers.”

Munos-Munos, who is in this country illegally, has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter and is currently being held without bond. This is not Munos-Munos’ first rodeo. He was previously arrested in 2010 for DWI and unlawful carrying of a weapon. Though he was deported from the United States in 2012, he apparently made his way back and contributed to this country by killing a man who, by all accounts, was an upstanding member of our society.

The members of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office mourn the untimely death of Sgt. Dwayne Polk, a 16 year veteran of the HCSO and a dedicated public servant.

The HCSO deals with on a daily basis the tragedy that happens in our community. Our deputies are trained to handle these situations and do what we can to help our citizens move forward when they have been touched by tragedy. Today, it reminds us that although we wear badges and guns, we too are human and our hearts hurt and are heavy as anyone else who has dealt with the loss of a son, a brother, a dedicated colleague, a caring friend and a proud father. Our prayers are with Sgt. Polk’s family and those who knew him best.

Sgt. Polk’s death reminds us that we must stop these senseless actions at the hands of irresponsible individuals who insist on ignoring the law and common sense, and get behind the wheel after having too much to drink!

As we move forward, Sgt. Polk’s death will not be in vain. We will continue to put behind bars those who run the risk of devastating other families, as the Polk family has been. It was eerily ironic that on the morning of June 18th I was with Mothers Against Drunk Driving as they held the annual “Walk Like MADD”.

Let’s remind ourselves that these deaths can be prevented either by personal responsibility or by handcuffs, but we will not stop in our efforts to save lives on our roadways!

It happened in December of last year when the victim went to Fritz’s home to talk to him. Once inside, the girl said that Brown and Applewhite were also there and that Brown had a gun in his pocket.

Fritz took the girl into the basement were he raped and sodomized her. He then ordered her to have sex with the other two teens. She refused, but later complied because she was scared Brown would kill her.

The girl “knew that all three defendants were gang members of the Black Disciples faction ‘Tay-Town’ and was fearful that [Brown] would shoot her,” Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Bridget O’Brien said.

Tt’s quite common for teens to videotape their illegal activities so they can then share them online, and these teens were no exception. This particular video shows Brown waving a gun in the air while the girl performs a sex act, and all three shouting gang slogans, prosecutors said. Luckily for these idiots,  they are clearly visible in the video, with Fritz even turning the camera toward himself.

The day after being gang raped, the girl told someone what had happened. She made a police report and was treated and examined at a hospital. The day after that, on Dec. 17, the video was posted on all three boys’ Facebook pages.

Why in the hell it took until this month to arrest these teens is anyone’s guess, but they were all ordered held in lieu of $900,000 bail on charges of aggravated criminal sexual assault. They were charged as adults.

Not surprisingly, this isn’t the first time some of the accused have been in trouble. Fritz and Brown are co-defendants in a previous, unrelated robbery and aggravated battery case. Brown is also on probation stemming from a Nov. 28, 2012, unlawful use of a weapon case.
