George County Sheriff Dean Howell said they received an anonymous 911 call Tuesday night concerning a man who had set his dog on fire and was “going psycho while crazy on meth.”

According to police, when they arrived at Pierce’s residence, they found a small breed dog on fire and Pierce in his bedroom acting erratically. He told officers he “wanted to help the dog go to heaven.” Pierce has a rather odd definition for the word “help” as police say he doused the dog with a flammable liquid and then set it on fire.

I can only speculate he truly was on meth when his drug-addled brain felt this was a good idea, or people need to be real careful asking this guy for any kind of assistance in the future.

Surprisingly, the dog survived and was transported to the George County Animal Hospital. Aside from having the tip of its nose burned off, the dog may also lose its eyesight, ears, and a front leg. You can check out a picture of the injured dog here.

Pierce was first taken to George County Regional Hospital before being placed in jail. Aside from the animal cruelty charges, Pierce was also wanted on two existing warrants.

MOORE, OK

A homeowner called police after returning to his home to find two men going through the rubble of his house. When he asked what the hell they were doing, they stated they were searching for survivors. Unfortunately, they weren’t talking about human beings trapped underneath debris, they were talking about valuable items not destroyed by the tornado.

According to the homeowner who found the men in his house, he found some of his belongings in the suspects’ pockets. When police arrived at the scene, they found the men with a bag full of items the two had reportedly stolen from destroyed homes in the neighborhood.

Police have not identified the suspects at this time, much to many people’s dismay, but the video below shows both of them being arrested and sparked a long series of racists comments regarding their ethnicity. To combat the looting issue, the Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner is working on a badge system that will issue badges to residents that allow them to enter neighborhoods damaged by the tornado.

That’s a good first step, I guess, but I find the “You Loot, I’ll Shoot” policy to be much more effective. It takes a special kind of person to steal from people who have just lost everything. Hopefully, if anyone is found guilty of looting from the people in Moore, they will get the maximum punishment allowable.

Charlotte, NC

According to the Charlotte Observer, the woman called police on Monday to report that her Pop-Tarts had been stolen from her home. She also told them that her son was the theif and that she wanted him arrested.

Since Charlotte’s crime rate is -6.7% lower in March than it was the same time last year, a bored police officer obliged and placed the kid under juvenile arrest. He’s been charged with larceny/misdemeanor and will appear in juvenile court.

One of the boy’s neighbors laughed when informed he’d been arrested for stealing his mother’s Pop-Tarts. “He seems real nice to me. I mean, he is real respectful,” said the neighbor. Another neighbor told reporters that the food in her house is there for her kids. “It would be nice if they asked, but they don’t. They are kids,” they said.

While the boy’s mother declined to comment, the arrest report stated the mother has been having ongoing discipline issues with her son, so she decided to use this incident to teach him a lesson.

The last time a Pop-Tart was mentioned on this site, a kid was suspended from school for making a Pop-Tart gun then pointing it at another student in the cafeteria.

Not a lot of details on this story, but Schiappapietra had just moved into his new home with his wife and three young children five weeks prior to his arrest on Saturday. It’s not known how Schiappapietra was able to lure the girls into his home, or how his actions were discovered.

Neighbor Tim Rossi told CBS reporters, “You know, having children of my own and knowing there are other children in this neighborhood…I had no idea it was going on down there. It’s very disturbing”. It’s particularly disturbing considering this man’s profession, but it wouldn’t be the first time a perv made the force.

In any event, he was booked and charged on Saturday at his home, and as of Monday evening was still being held on $100,000 bail. He has been placed on paid vacation, I mean, paid administrative leave, pending the results of both a criminal and internal affairs investigation.

It started with four posts he made on Twitter yesterday, starting with one at 1:15 that read: “Breaking news this is a first folks las vegas police were just at my house i have been charged with rape by a [removed] from las vegas”

Two more tweets follow in which he welcomes the media to this “drama filled event” and says he’s willing to take a polygraph test. The fourth read:”[name removed] told police that i drugged her and then raped her.hmmmmm.lets find out what really happened.”

Metro Sgt. John Sheahan confirmed part of Canseco’s announcement. “He’s being investigated for an alleged sexual assault, and that’s it,” Sheahan said. He also confirmed officers spoke with Canseco Wednesday morning and that Canseco agreed to an interview that has not taken place yet.

After deleting those four posts, he started up again – this time with a series of posts that continued to name his accuser while also giving out her telephone number.

“This is [name removed]. hi [name removed] will u take a polygraph cause i will” read the post with what was supposedly a picture of the woman accusing him of sexual assault. The next post contained her phone number. It read: [phone number removed] this is [name removed] number call her media ask her if she will take a polygraph.lol”

He would later remove those posts, then deny he ever deleted anything. Of course his bullying tactic has a lot of people outraged and asking that people report him for giving out another person’s personal info, a clear violation of Twitter’s ToS.

Plainfield, NJ

The woman was walking down the street when the two 5-year-old dogs, named Max and Marley, escaped from an unlocked fence and began attacking her.

Most of the attack was captured on video and shows the woman on the ground trying to defend herself while the two dogs alternate biting her.

You can also see as the owner of the dogs, along with passerbys, try everything from hitting the dogs with sticks, honking horns, and physically drag the dogs away from the woman – to no avail

When police showed up to the scene, the dogs were still attacking the woman so the officers fired five shots, killing both dogs. Plainfield Police Captain Ed Santiago  said he had no issues with the officers’ decision to act.

“The next bite of a dog like that could have been a jugular. It could have killed her,” he said. “They weren’t even paying attention to their owner.”

Neighbors said it wasn’t the first time the dogs had gotten loose. Police have issued the dogs’ owner four summonses for having vicious and unleashed dogs.

BANGOR, Maine

According to the girl’s mother, Cable was last seen near her home before she went to meet Dube, whom she met through Facebook. Dozens of law enforcement officers, using aircraft and dogs, and hundreds of civilian volunteers, spent days searching for Cable.

On the Wednesday following her disappearance, Cable’s mother pleaded for her daughter’s return during a press conference.

“I would like to say, ‘Nichole, we love you and if you’re scared because you ran away — you’re not in trouble. It’s OK,’” Kristine Wiley said. “If somebody has her — I don’t care [what happened] — take her to a gas station or a park. I don’t know what else to say. I’m waiting for you to call me and I love you.”

The day after Cable was reported missing, Dube posted the following to his Facebook regarding his girlfriend, who is not Cable:

“OK so I don’t with the droma. Let’s get this straight. I KYLE DUBE is and always will be with [my girlfriend]. We have had are up and downs but we have worked them out so stop talking to me if you are trying to flirt and guys you better stop hitting on [her] I get crazy when I’m pissed off and I’m about there.”

Cable’s best friend said Dube and Nichole had met on Facebook a couple of months earlier and had been hanging out with each other. On the Sunday she vanished, Cable and Dube were to meet because Dube was about to start serving a few months in jail. Dube was sentenced to 90-days in jail after he got in to a high-speed motorcycle chase in June of last year.

Three days after Dube showed up to jail to start serving his sentence, an officer with the Maine Warden Service and his dog found a girl’s body around 9:30 p.m. Monday. Investigators said they were searching the area where the body was found after receiving information from “several different sources.”

The following day, Kyle Dube was charged with intentional and knowing murder. No word on exactly what led police to Dube, but his neighbors say that his mother called police to report that Cable had been at her house visiting with her son a week earlier.

More information is supposed to be revealed when he makes his first court appearance later today.

DAYTON, IA

Authorities say Klunder abducted the two girls after they got off a school bus on Monday, luring the girls into his truck with the promise of them making money cutting grass. He then took the girls to a hog confinement farm about 15 miles south of Dayton.

There’s not a lot of details regarding what happened once the girls were at the farm, but the younger girl somehow managed to escape Klunder and make a run for it. She ended up at a neighboring farm where two men found the girl as she was crawling to them underneath a wire fence.

She was wearing shorts and a T-shirt, but had no shoes. She also had a thick zip tie cable around one of her wrists that one of the men cut free before grabbing a gun and running towards the hog confinement facility. He didn’t find anything there aside from tire tracks left by Klunder. Shepard was nowhere to be found.

The 12-year-old was taken to a Fort Dodge hospital and later released while police used the information she had given them to track down Klunder and, hopefully, Shepard. Authorities haven’t said what relationship the girls have to one another.

Police are searching where the girls were abducted, the rural area from where the 12-year-old escaped, and Klunder’s home. Authorities are searching a 75- to 100-square-mile area by air, water and land, and have deployed canine units. Volunteers also are conducting a foot patrol of the area and a recent report states the search has been expanded to the nearby Des Moines River.

This search wouldn’t even be going on had Klunder been in prison where he belongs. In 1992, Klunder kidnapped a 21-year old woman. He would be convicted of third-degree kidnapping, sentenced to 11 years in prison and placed on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry.

A year year earlier, Klunder was charged with kidnapping two Charles City 3-year-old girls who were later found alive and unharmed in a trash can 50 miles away. He pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree kidnapping and willful injury in that case. But for some reason, he only served half of the 41 years he was to serve in prison, and was released in Feb. 25, 2011.

“It is confusing for the public, and especially for victims, when they hear that someone has a 40 year sentence and in 20 years they’re walking out the door,” said Fred Scaletta, Iowa Department of Corrections spokesman.

And that’s not all. Police in nearby Evansdale say they will look for a connection between Klunder and the kidnappings of Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins, the two cousins we reported on last July who went missing after going on a bike ride, and whose dead bodies would be found by hunters five months later.

U.S. District Judge Marco A. Hernandez, who sent Barnett back to the Oregon State Penitentiary with the extra time, feels Barnett  ”…has significant personality issues that remain unresolved.” Assistant U.S. Attorney John N. Parmley, a prosecutor called in from San Diego after the previous prosecutor fell victim to Barnett’s mischief, said of Barnett “The longer he stays in a controlled environment, the safer society will be.”

So what kind of douche-devilry draws such dire damnation? What manner of malevolence manifests such maligning? Threatening letters, anthrax hoaxes and poop… not necessarily in that order. Oh, and there’s even a torrid love affair with a not-really-hot-white-supremacist-spree-killer in there for you women folk.

Barnett’s streak starts back in 2008. Barnett, already in jail, mailed threatening letters to Washington County Sheriff Rob Gordon and three of his deputies. In August 2011, Barnett was moved to Portland’s Justice Center Jail, where he allegedly hurled a mixture of urine and feces at the face of Multnomah County Sheriff’s Deputy Brett S. Russell. According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Peifer, Russell actually and unfortunately ingested some of the delightful cocktail, which may or may not have earned him the nickname “Poopy Brett.”

In February of 2012, Barnett mailed a letter laden with racial slurs addressed to both Peifer and Senior U.S. District Judge Ancer L. Haggerty, who is African-American. Two short months later, Barnett mailed another letter to Peifer’s office, this one accompanied by a white powder. “Have you ever stopped and asked yourself: what it would feel like to slowly die from an infectious disease?” the note began.

It went on to describe the various symptoms associated with ‘bacillus anthracis’ which, for you non-biologists, is Latin for “Pretty Much Anthrax.” The letter rambled a bit towards the end, where Barnett added “I only want (three) things in life. 1. I want you gone!!!! 2. To see Pink Floyd live!!! 3. I want to lea(r)n VOODOO.” I have to wonder about just how boring this guy is. If I had to narrow my bucket list down to three things, at least two of them would involve hookers and a blowtorch, while approximately none would involve Pink Floyd.

Lauren Cargill, the receptionist at Peifer’s office who opened the letter, breathed in the powder and was forced to remain inside while the rest of the building was evacuated. “I no longer feel safe,” she said, testifying that she is suffering from PTSD and is even reluctant to open her own mail at home. The FBI found the contents of the letter, as well as a whopping five others sent by Barnett, to be harmless and traced them back to Barnett by way of fingerprints and DNA.

When it came to his defense, Barnett, representing himself, apologized to Lauren Cargill and stated “I am not a menace to society.” Clearly, the judge didn’t agree. This leaves only one question… what band is on your bucket list?

On Sunday, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office says they received a 911 call that a female hiker in Chautauqua Park was “high on mushrooms and in distress.” A total of 35 personnel from the BCSO, Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, Boulder Fire Rescue, the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, and an American Medical Rescue ambulance were dispatched to the location.

Rescuers found Powers, a University of Colorado undergrad, nude and being detained by two classmates. Rescuers had to handcuff Powers because she was continuing to struggle, and it took several rescuers to secure her inside a rescue basket.

Nearly two hours after first the first call was made, Powers was brought off the mountain and transported to a Boulder hospital, where she was treated and released. Taylor “Buzzkill” Powers was eventually cited for unlawful consumption of a controlled substance and “further charges are pending against others involved,” deputies reported.

While looking for more info on this story, I came across an article from last year regarding a Florida teen who ingested mushrooms and then shot himself in the head so he would wake up from, what he thought, was a nightmare.

Steven Tilbury, 17, said that he fell asleep soon after he and his friends had ingested the mushrooms. When he woke up, he said it felt like it wasn’t real and that he felt like he was awake in a terrible nightmare (been there, done that). He said he thought if he shot himself he would wake up from the bad dream. Surprisingly, he survived the shooting and doctors were able to remove the bullet from his head.
