Sarah Edwards, 23, was arrested Monday.

The phony kidnapping plot started to unfold after a woman got a call Sunday from a man who said a group of drug dealers had kidnapped Edwards, according to an arrest report.

The woman, whose name wasn't made public in the arrest report, told Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies she could hear Edwards screaming in the background as the man explained she was being taken by gunpoint.

The fictional kidnappers wanted $150 cash and asked that the woman come to the parking lot of a Wal-Mart....

The woman called the Sheriff's Office, who placed an undercover vehicle at the Wal-Mart while the ransom was exchanged late Sunday. According to the report, the man met with the woman in the parking lot, took the cash from her and drove away.

Deputies followed the man's car and pulled it over. Inside was the man and Edwards, who was in possession of $150 cash, deputies said. When asked about her kidnappers, Edwards was unable to give a description...

She told deputies she and the man made up the plan to get money to buy drugs.

Edwards is charged with false report of a non-existent crime, false information to a law enforcement officer during an investigation and organized fraud. She was being held at the Palm Beach County Jail without bail.
