A Georgia farmer was killed after a cow he was trying to move ended up turning against him.

The cow ended up ramming the farmer, Nathan William Paris, against a fence.

The force was so great that the impact ended up crushing he 72-year-old's chest causing massive trauma.

First responders attempted to revive the man but it was no use.

He was rushed to an emergency room where he was pronounced dead.

'It's the first time in a long time that I can recall a death attributed to a farm animal,' Floyd County Coroner Gene Proctor told the Rome-News Tribune.

It is not known whether the cow was changing pastures or heading to the slaughterhouse.

Cows kill on average 22 people every year in the US alone. That's only about 8 less than dogs(all breeds combined). They are one of the biggest killers of humans in the animal kingdom and people don't even realize it.

We had this big ol orny cow named Midnight and if you went into her pasture, you went armed with a hockey stick. She'd come on a full out run from the other end of the pasture to chase you. If you took her out of the pasture or stood on the other side of the fence she was sweet as pie and you could even ride her. Crossing that fence line was enough to tick her right off though.

We lived next door to a cow pasture with a barbed wire fence around it. There was one particular place that all the kids in the area crossed at, there were not usually any cows there but sometimes they were standing there watching us. One looked at us put his head down and bellowed and started towards us and we ran for the fence. Climbing a barbed wire fenced was better than getting hit by a raging bull.

Livestock accidents happen all the time. Here's one where a car startled some sheep who trampled the shepherdess,
One butted her for good measure while the dogs barked at the car.
Most livestock and poultry are territorial prey animals and they are quick to react, sometimes to human detriment. Usually, you brush yourself off and move along.
