Victor Manuel Moreno
The man whose body was found inside a suitcase in a concrete-lined flood-control channel in Glendale was identified by authorities

A maintenance worker was cleaning out debris from the Verdugo Wash when he found the suitcase
[..]
Once the suitcase was discovered, police were called to the scene, and a man’s body was found inside.

The man was identified as Victor Manuel Moreno, 21, of San Pedro, according to Ed Winter
[...]
An autopsy was performed on Moreno, but the cause of death was deferred, according to Winter. The death was reported as a homicide.

The suitcase was dumped in the wash in a spot that is not accessible to the public, near the Glorietta Avenue bridge

No obvious stab wounds or gunshot wounds were found on the body, said Sgt. Tom Lorenzo

A fully-clothed man was found dead, stuffed in a suitcase and dumped into a concrete flood control channel in Los Angeles County
[...]
A county public works employee was clearing the Verdugo Wash under the Glorietta Avenue bridge in Glendale, Calif. around 9 a.m. when he came across the very large suitcase, became suspicious and called cops.

Responding officers looked inside and discovered the intact body, which showed no immediate signs of having been shot or stabbed
[...]
“We surmise it was probably last night or in the very early morning hours that the dumping occurred. The body didn’t start to stink yet. That tells us a lot,” he said. “The suitcase was dry, it was clean. It was dropped there from the bridge. There was no other way to get it there.”

No one matching the description of the dead man has been reported missing, and police are asking neighbors if they noticed any suspicious activity late Sunday or early Monday, Lorenz said.

There's still a possibility it isn't a homicide even though his body was in a suitcase. He could have offed himself or OD'd and the person who found him panicked and tried to hide his body...it's happened before.

Possible, but even if thy didn't kill him they were doing something they did not want to have to explain to police.....

True...But that doesn't make it a homicide. My comment was directed to Whisp's "ya think?" comment. I was mostly being facetious.
