According to police, the 10-year-old child was staying with Tara Gotovnik at her residence on the 4300 block of W. Ramsey Ave. for a period of two days in early August when the father of the child learned what happened and contacted police.
According to police reports, when the 10-year-old child was picked up by the father to go home, the child stated he "never wanted to go back to Gotovnik's residence again."
When the child was brought into the Child Protection Center, the child told authorities that he drank a slushy that was made by Gotovnik's friend. After drinking the slusky, the child threw up. Gotovnik reportedly gave him a sleeping pill to help him go to sleep, but the pill made him stay awake and feel sick, according to the criminal complaint.
According to the criminal complaint, Gotovnik instructed the 10-year-old child to come to the couch. When he did, she took her shirt off and instructed the child to perform a sex act. The complaint states that Gotovnik told the child they could go online and make money for doing it.
The criminal complaint continues, stating that Gotovnik led the child through a procedure involving sex implements.
On Aug. 10, a search warrant was executed at Gotovnik's residence. Her criminal complaint stated that she admitted to giving the child ambien on on the date of the incident. She denied leading the child through a procedure involving sex implements.
Gotovnik has been charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child and delivery of a controlled substance. If convicted, she could face up to 43 years behind bars.
