Sentenced: Diddy Would Not Stop Barking So He Was Shot In The Face By Owner's Friend

A Pottsville, Pennsylvania, man has been arrested after allegedly shooting a friend's dog in the face this weekend because it was barking.

The incident happened Saturday night, around 8:20pm, when the dog's owner, Anthony Holmes and two other men were hanging out at a residence on West Market Street.

Police say Holmes, 30, shot the dog in the face when he got angry about the dog's barking and then fled the home.

The dog - a 10-year-old German Shepherd mix named Diddy - also ran away from the residence but was tracked down and taken to a veterinary hospital where he continues to recover from the serious injuries sustained in the attack. It's unclear if the dog will be able to see out of its right eye again.


Diddy's owner can't afford to pay the dog's medical bills so the local branch of the SPCA is raising funds.

Holmes was later tracked down by police and he admitted to shooting the dog with a .38 caliber revolver and then hiding the gun at the home of an acquaintance.

He has been booked into the Schuylkill County Prison on charges of aggravated cruelty to an animal, possessing instruments of crime, recklessly endangering another person, cruelty to animals and discharging a firearm in the city.
