Three men are headed to prison after they were convicted of sexually assaulting a minor.

That's according to a release issued from the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General.

Officials say the three men assaulted a 15-year-old boy during a party in Christian County in October of 2014. The victim was unconscious during the assault, according to officials.

The three men were given sentences on Wednesday after they entered pleas in August of this year.

Colton Cavanaugh, 19, was sentenced to 20 years in prison. He was charged with first-degree sodomy, first-degree wanton endangerment and tampering with physical evidence.

Authorities say Cavanaugh must serve at least 12 years before he is eligible for parole. Cavanaugh will be required to register as a sex offender and serve an additional five years of conditional release when he completes his sentence. Officials say Cavanaugh offered a public apology to the victim in August as part of his plea.

Dayton Jones, 22, was given a 15-year sentence. He was charged with first-degree sodomy, first-degree wanton endangerment and distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. Jones is required to register as a lifetime sex offender. Authorities say Jones will be required to serve at least 8- 1/2 years of his sentence before he is eligible for parole. He will also serve as additional five years of conditional release once he completes his sentence. Jones offered an apology to the victim during sentencing.

Tyler Perry, 21, was given a 10-year sentence on a charge of first-degree assault. He will be required to serve 85 percent of his sentence.

It appears Jones's grandfather is an important figure in the state and a donor to the governor's campaign and lead the effort to get his degenerate grandson out of prison.
Dayton Jones appeared to be a free man in December when Gov. Matt Bevin commuted his sentence to time served for a brutal sodomy that almost killed a 15-year-old boy.

But on Tuesday, Jones was charged with a federal offense stemming from the same crime — producing child pornography, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison.

The Courier Journal reported in January that the office of U.S. Attorney Russell Coleman was investigating whether Jones, 26, violated a federal law and could face new charges.

Jones, the grandchild of an affluent Christian County couple, was freed by Bevin after serving only three years of a 15-year term for using a sex toy to assault a boy who was passed out drunk. His clemency prompted a furor in Western Kentucky.

Jones’ attorney, Darren Wolff, said in an interview that the federal charge is vindictive and obviously in retaliation for Bevin's commutation.

Dayton Jones, 27, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, pleaded guilty Wednesday to the charge during a proceeding in federal court in Paducah, news outlets reported. A plea deal calls for Jones to be sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The federal charge stemmed from events that led to sodomy and other charges against him by Kentucky prosecutors in 2014. Jones was a few years into a 15-year sentence when Bevin commuted the sentence in 2019, nullifying the case in state court. Federal prosecutors charged Jones the following year.

Bevin issued hundreds of pardons before leaving office, attracting criticism from lawmakers, prosecutors and victims for a handful of pardons of violent felons that appeared to be politically motivated.

Jones had pleaded guilty in state court to assaulting a 15-year-old boy who had passed out from drinking with a sex toy. Assistant U.S. Attorney Seth Hancock said Jones took a video of the assault and sent it to others using Snapchat. One person who received the video turned it in to law enforcement, leading to the federal charge, Hancock said.
