– A 26-year-old man suspected of sexually abusing a young child was arrested in Idaho this week, along with the parent of the alleged victim.
Christopher Martin Andrews and the parent were taken into custody in Ashton, Idaho. The victim, who was with them, was placed in protective custody,

The sheriff’s office is not releasing the parent’s name in order to protect the victim’s identity.

The investigation was prompted by sexually explicit photos that were found on Andrew’s phone, the sheriff’s office said. The victim’s parent, however, reportedly hindered the investigation and kept detectives from locating the suspect.

Investigators eventually learned the suspect and parent had left the state and taken the victim with them. An arrest warrant was issued for Andrews and the search was expanded nationwide. Fremont County Sheriff’s deputies located them and arrested Andrews and the parent Thursday.

Andrews is charged with first-degree sodomy, first-degree sex abuse, first-degree possession of materials depicting sexually explicit conduct of a child and use of a child in display of sexually explicit conduct.

The parent is also charged with first-degree criminal mistreatment, second-degree child neglect and hindering prosecution.
