Morbid

The NSFW forum is gone. We are restructuring some of the forums in preparation for Screamin' Demon to be reopened sometime at the beginning of next year, which will share this same forum, and it just doesn't have a place here. It never has, really.

However, to align more with the site, we have brought back a crime scene related forum. It is for bold members currently, but you aren't missing much. I will be bringing on someone to maintain that forum and provide consistent content.

I don't see it. Is it up somewhere? (Crime Scene, not NSFW.) Also, by someone updating it, does this mean that members can't update it?

ETA... maintain...

It's in the Reality Bites set of forums and yes, members can contribute all they want. I'm just going to get someone in here to keep it updating with new content on a regular basis.

Didn't you start NSFW in the first place, Morbid?

Actually, we had an entire forum for it called Red Light District. This was before we had an influx of members and was rarely used - mainly so I could try to get some $$$ from affiliate sites. But then members started posting their tits and, well, shit started going downhill and we closed it up.

When I recreated it, I imagined it more for gore and crime scene stuff. We have never been a place people go to look (or post) porn but once it started, I wasn't digging it. The fact remains that crime sites are made up of mostly women.

I've discussed why I think that is many times, but won't get into it here. Regardless, allowing that kind of material just seems to.. I dunno... funk up the vibe a bit. We are primarily a crime site for people who enjoy crime, ya know? I think its best we leave the porn to the professionals I know and love.

Wanted to add that shit didn't go downhill because of tits, but because some of the participants realized what a bad idea it was later when their shit was getting shared and people were easily figuring who they were in Real Life. It was just easier to close it since it was the lowest visited section of the forums that was generating an unacceptable proportion of hassle.

I understand your reasons totally....and I suppose that as a newbie, my deliberate attempt to post the grossest porn I could find just to try and shock or disgust people, didn't help the vibe of the place, either.

Yeah, none of us come here for porn so it shouldn't really have a place here. If I wanted to look at porn, I wouldn't come here for that.

I will just say this though regarding these words of yours....."was generating an unacceptable proportion of hassle." I am thinking here of the Three Things sub-forum where I appear to have seriously pissed off loads of people just for saying what I think on a controvertial political subject. Can't help wondering if maybe politics is as misplaced here as porn is. If I want a discussion about politics, I'll generally go to politics forums for it, and with hindsight wish I had regarding that subject.

Three Things is a shell of its former self. That was our most popular forum for years, along with Reality Bites. In fact, it is the main reason why this started to begin with and why we leave it. If you go back in it, you will find some amazing debates - some of which that changed my views on things I thought were unchangeable.

The difference between back then and now is that people did not hold grudges or get angry - or if they did, it stayed there and did not ever permeate the rest of the forums.

Well, that's my fear and my impression at the moment....I suspect that one or two members do hold grudeges - not naming anyone - and that in consequence I have permanently blackened my name there in the eyes of some. I myself also took things a little too seriously there, probably, as well, so am hardly blameless. So I am kind of thinking that maybe it's best if I don't go there anymore......least not until or unless I feel I have established myself here.

You're thinking too much.

Who cares if a member or two doesn't agree with you. Having opposing opinions is what makes conversation interesting. That is what 3 things is for, right? To talk about topics you feel strongly about?

Also, establishing yourself here would not change your overall acceptance, imo. If you state your stance on whatever the subject is consistently in every thread you comment on, you're giving an accurate representation of yourself. To me (one who lurks in a lot of threads but reads them all) countering view points are appreciated more than a bunch of people jerking each other off in a circle about how great their opinions are.

Thanks.....yeah maybe I do overthink things.

I don't care if people disagree with me.....I am a veteran of politics forums after all....I just don't like personal animosities over a type of subject which is not really why I come here, anyway.

Some of my favorite members (here now and no longer here) are not ones that share my opinion, but the ones who stated their opinions with some intelligence. Lord knows I don't always agree with @Athena, @brokenandtwisted, @Pete Bondurant and @JackBurton when it comes to their political and\or social viewpoints - but I do like reading them regardless.

:woot: Ha! I'm sure I'm far from a lonely tomato when I say always thought the Crime Scene threads for Bold would make a great, incentivized apertif for those who want a fuller, more realistic crime site experience.

The articles are great, and generate a lot of discussion, but in a lot of cases media aren't allowed to make this stuff privy to mainstream readers. This forum really does validate the old saying, "pictures are worth a thousand words," IMO. :)

I agree with most that you've said here but I'm kinda scratching my head on Jack, I haven't seen him in 3 things and he always flip flops on his stance. :p maby I should pay more attention on his "views"

Well I didn't say anything about his views, I was speaking more about how he presents them. Whether I agree with him or not, he usually makes mince-meat out of anyone who goes after his stance on a subject (especially when the other person is presenting something based on feelings). From what I've read of course, it's not like I read all this shit. :p

Besides, I flip-flop on shit all the time on here. Playing devil's advocate is fun, and it helps you learn the other viewpoint better.

Gotta love all his "what ifs" and his 'mix & match' posts. One minute he's collecting negs, the next he's collecting awesomes, lol.

I like reading @JackBurton posts. He's a sarcastic ass at times and others he is rational and succinct. Although, I wouldn't want 100 of the same personality type, I dig when a poster isn't a cookie cutter and holds his own. Kinda like you, @gatekeeper.

It's unfortunate that some colourful folk in DD's past didn't realize the Internet is forever. We had a couple posters fall prey to the RLD drama.

I hold grudges with religious conviction. Get the fuck out.

Fuck you. I will remember this for years. I will create a Word document with all of our interactions and I will harass you about posts you've made that are contradictory, offensive, hypocritical or Morbid-loving.

My biographic memoirs are going to be riveting. Maybe, if you're good, I'll send you pictures of my dick and a pizza. I know how you love dick pizza.

Thing is, new to the forum, I rocked up and said what I thought, something a little more thoughtful than the usual "let's torture the evil fucks, blah, blah, blah". But no one attacked any of my arguments, instead they merely chose to attack me personally for being over-sensitive, or for trampling on feelings, or simply tried to imply that I shouldn't be on a forum like this if I couldn't accept the kind of things they thought. Or that's how it came across. And I got the distinct impression that whilst some could get away with saying almost anything because they are popular and long-standing members, if I challenged any of it, I'd be rounded upon. And for the first time, I ceased to feel welcome.

I began to question my membership here, and whether it is somewhere I'd continue to enjoy contributing to. And I have concluded that that is only likely to be the case if I avoid politics. It is after all a crime forum and I was wholly happy here talking about that - so much so that I paid my $20 within a week of finding the place. I don't want to have to deal singlehandedly with all the personal bullshit that comes my way if I dare to express an opinion that is even remotely controvertial.

Lesson learned. From now on, if I want to talk politics, I 'll go to a politics site, just as if I want to watch porn I'll go to a porn site. I'll come here when I want to talk about crime.

Three things will be getting a face-lift shortly. I'm slowly working my way through the forums cleaning up the neglected areas.

If you feel you have been attacked, please use the report feature and I'll give it my utmost attention.

Nah, I haven't come to this forum to go running to mommy everytime someone is a bit mean to me. Let it be.

I would not consider it running to mommy. The report feature is anonymous to everyone but the person using it. In order for the forums to get back on track, I'll need a heads up occasionally since I'm not omnipresent.

It's not running to mommy - it's helping us get the forums back on track. This goes for everyone. Report, report, report. It's the only way we can fix things. We can't spend all day reading EVERYTHING posted - I got a site to run, articles to write, etc, etc.

Fair enough. But let's let bygones be bygones over all that.

But what I will do is use the report button in future if I think anyone is being attacked in a personal and unfair way

@HagarTheHorrible I wouldn't take anything as offensive. We're all adults here. Mostly. I think. We all have differing opinions. Sometimes people will change them, sometimes they won't.

Whatever happens in political/controversial threads ultimately stays in the threads. At least for me. If you find it's carrying over to other interactions -- those people simply are not worthy of your time to begin with.

Dude I've personally told you that Pete and bite me are special and not to be confused with others. And the other "attacks" is cause you basically alluded that people from the UK are better than those from the US. Thats gonna piss people off.

I've seen you complain about it in three places now. Go in there or not, but come on man. No one is out to get you.
