A 32-year-old man in Norway has admitted to raping his own two-month old son and then distributing the film to an online paedophile network, at the start of what the prosecutor has called one of the most “serious abuse cases in Norwegian legal history”.

Police began tracking the group last year after they found the harrowing video of the rape among files seized from the computer of a suspected paedophile.

“We knew nothing about this child, but on the video we could hear the sound of voices from Norwegian radio or television in the background,” District Attorney Kristin Røhne said in the prosecution statement.

Police traced the video to the 34-year-old who had already been convicted in 2009 of sexually assaulting a minor, and also of distributing videos of child abuse and assault.

The 32-year-old is in court alongside the 34-year-old man to whom he sent the video, a 27-year-old man, and two women, one 27, the other 43.

All are being charged with involvement in a paedophile ring whose members filmed their own children in sexual positions or acts.

"The abuse case is being characterised as one of the most serious in Norwegian legal history, because the people involved had had a sexual interest in very young children," Røhne said.

The other three defendants, including the 34-year-old, have been charged with raping the 27-year-old woman’s two-month old baby. ​

Having difficulty recognising the country I grew up in from your description. No doubt a lot of sickening pornography has been manufactured there over the years, and the attitude to sex *is* a lot more relaxed than in most English-speaking countries. The general public there doesn't condone child sex, however, and as for the animal brothels, even if they ever existed outside the fevered imagination of the foreign press, they would have always been covered by the animal cruelty laws (inadequately punished, like most other countries, granted!), and since April of this year those laws specifically forbid sex with animals, too.

Baby abusers sentenced to protect public

Three Norwegian men and two women were sentenced to jail terms that theoretically can be extended indefinitely to protect the public, after they were convicted in one of the worst child and baby abuse cases to ever play out in a Norwegian court. The men and women sexually abused, even raped, babies as young as two months old.

The judge in the court in Drammen, west of Oslo, showed more leniency, though, than the terms prosecutors sought. While they had asked for the special form of protective custody (called forvaring) with terms of as long as 15 years, the judge cut that to terms of from six- to 11 years, with one of the women receiving only a half-year sentence that she already has effectively served while waiting in custody for the ugly case to come to court.

Some of the defendants were already filing appeals on Friday, claiming their sentences were too strict, while the prosecutors were also considering appealing the case in the hopes of securing tougher custody terms. Under the terms of forvaring, though, a judge must rule on whether the defendants are sufficiently rehabilitated when their release dates come up. If not, they can continue to be held.

One of the defendants in a major case of sexual assault against children and even babies claimed in court on Tuesday that he was “incredibly glad that police stopped me.” He and the other four defendants face life in custody because of the danger they’ll revert to pedophilia once freed.

The 32-year-old defendant in what’s been called one of the most “appalling” cases to get underway in a Norwegian courtroom pleaded guilty to all charges against him and claimed he needed “to take responsibility for what I have done.” He’s charged with raping his own three-month-old son and the two-month-old daughter of a female co-defendant, and state broadcaster NRK reported that he claimed he “didn’t completely understand the seriousness of what I’ve done. I didn’t think such small children could be damaged by such. I understand better now, but I need more help and treatment.”

All five defendants have also pleaded guilty to all charges against them that are backed by photographic and video evidence. Newspaper Aftenposten reported Tuesday that 10 more cases loom nationwide based on more evidence of what’s called a “grotesque” network of pedophiles in Norway and abroad.

Aftenposten reported that police “stumbled” upon the network while examining the computer of a runaway 12-year-old girl whose parents had called police for help. The computer contained sexually provocative photos and a chat-log that led police to the home of a 34-year-old man in Solør in Hedmark who had a criminal record of sexual assault against children. Evidence found at his home led to the arrests of the other defendants, of whom four have been evaluated as pedophiles by court-appointed psychiatrists.

‘Appalling’ assault trial gets underway

Three Norwegian men and two women went on trial in Drammen, southwest of Oslo, on Monday in what’s been called one of the worst child assault cases in Norway in modern times. Two of the defendants are accused of raping their own babies and filming the assaults for paid distribution.

The case comes just as a new EU report involving international police cooperation warns of how some pedophiles have resorted to ordering assaults on children over the Internet. Instead of being satisfied with photographs and video of assaults, reported Oslo newspaper Aftenposten, pedophiles are also paying for “live” assaults, and the Norwegian case is believed to involve this.

The police cooperation “has led to us being able to uncover valuable information about these appalling crimes,” Wil van Gemert, opertions officer in Europol, told Aftenposten.

Those under indictment at the trial in Drammen include a 32-year-old man from Drammen, a 23-year-old woman from Kongsberg, a 27-year-old man from Oslo, a 34-year-old man from Solør in Hedmark County and a 43-year-old woman from Hønefoss.

The man from Drammen has admitted to filming himself while he raped his two-month-old son. He allegedly sent the film to others. He’s also charged with raping the three-month-old daughter of the 23-year-old woman from Kongsberg, with the woman’s consent. She also is charged with sexually assaulting her daughter, whom she also allowed to be raped again when the baby was nine months old.

The 27-year-old man from Oslo is charged with taking part in both rapes of the baby girl. The two other defendants are charged as accessories and being part of an alleged network to distribute the assaults. The man from Solør in rural Hedmark has been convicted earlier for distribution and sale of photos and film showing sexual assaults on children and he’s believed, among other charges, to have encouraged the baby rapes for distribution. The woman from Hønefoss is also charged with having distributed photos and film of her own two daughters, aged 10 and 13, being assaulted.

Caught chatting, strong evidence

Aftenposten reported that police cracked the case when the former convict from Solør allegedly chatted about the assaults on the Internet. Police put the man and his contacts under surveillance and eventually conducted raids against the suspects in which they seized computers, memory sticks and hard discs that contained valuable information and became valuable evidence.

More arrests may be made, since the material provided new leads for the police. Much of it has been sent to other police districts around Norway, and Aftenposten reported that 10 new investigations are underway around the country, tied to the alleged pedophile network.

Prosecutors intend to ask the court to sentence the defendants to a special form of custody known as forvaring, which could keep them confined indefinitely since it can be extended to protect society. “This is a highly special and serious case that will spark strong reaction,” prosecutor Kristin Røhne told newspaper Drammens Tidende. The case was expected to last for three months.

But a pedophile who has urges but hasn't acted on them CAN be helped to recognize their behavior and dangerous thought patterns and to fight against it. The problem with YOUR solution is it only works AFTER someone has offended. You will never get rid of the problem that way. Ever. There are plenty of people out there who have these urges and are struggling not to give in to them. A quick google search will show you many articles about this. But it's so difficult to get treatment for this, and most therapists wouldn't even know how to help someone who has these urges.

Not at all. What I'm saying is that there are as many types of pedophiles as there are people, and to assume that they're all just monsters who are beyond help is wrong. Some recognize the pain they would cause if they acted on their urges, and are struggling not to. Others don't realize how they would devastate someone's life if they did what they wanted to do. My point was that the only person who knows how wrong it is and doesn't care is a sociopath.
