A man suspected of child pornography and sexual abuse killed himself after a standoff with police in Broken Arrow early Saturday morning.

[...]

Detectives served a search warrant for child abuse, child sex abuse, and child pornography on John Murray Jr.'s home after a family member approached them with evidence.

Irwin said detectives served the warrant after hours because of the fear that Murray might destroy evidence.

"The situation developed rapidly," he said.

Irwin said the 60-year-old suspect then took off, but returned to the home a short time later.

He sat in his driveway in a pickup truck, and refused to exit the truck; police saw him put a gun to his head several times.

Irwin told KRMG Murray never pointed the weapon at officers, and was talking to them on the phone, but he refused to cooperate with them.

Murray had shot and killed himself, almost simultaneously with police deploying a flash bang grenade in an attempt to distract him.

It's believed there might be multiple abuse victims associated with Murray. Police will continue to investigate the case.

Easily the best possible outcome to this story, no wasted court costs, no police were injured and hopefully the victims got a little closure. And how about a round of applauds for the family member who tipped off police?

I love a happy ending... It's a shame he couldn't do this before he molested any kids though...
So true, you ever read a story like this and at one point in your life you lived in that town as a kid? It really gives me the heebeegeebies (mostly certain that is not an exact spelling). I went to elementary school in Tulsa for a couple years. Damn crazies everywhere

Not yet... but everytime I see a story from Louisville I wonder how it is that I've yet to read one about anyone (other than my ex, I'm not counting him because I already knew he was a sick, twisted freak) I've known or met.

There probably were some tears shed by whatever family he has (that he didn't molest). It would be pretty upsetting if I found out someone in my family was a child molester and then they killed themselves. Even if I believed it (which his family might not, because we all know how some family members are in denial), it would still be a terrible shock.

So my thoughts are with his family in addition to with his victims. Douche probably blew up several lives at once with his actions, and that's sad, even if his death is no great loss to society.

It's only a matter of time happy, I've traveled to much and met way to many people. I'm just counting down the hours until I see a coworker, family member or just an acquaintance on this website. Especially since I lived in the Kansas City Area for about 8 years and that place seems to be wanting to compete with floridians on this website here recently.
