Look, Xenforo search sucks. Google's search works great, but only after the forum content has been re-indexed. We specify in our thread posting rules to please include subject names in titles when applicable, although that rule has not been heavily enforced as much as it was encouraged.

Now that more people are posting threads (THANKS!) we are spending a lot of time merging threads because of dupes. The majority of those dupes are because our search sucks (and that won't be changing anytime soon it seems). So, with that, please include victim or suspect names in your titles when applicable, or if you are not going to use the tag feature.

This goes a loooong way in helping the search return valid results when someone is trying to make sure they do not make a dupe post. Thanks for understanding.

If it is breaking news (names not yet available) once people are named, should we change the headline title to fix it? Or just add tags to lessen the confusion, in regards to thread titles changing?
Which works best?

In cases like that, just post what you want. Tagging wouldnt hurt.

I have edited the original post. If you put the person(s) name as a tag, use what ever title you want.
