A professional poker player was killed for his winnings after being lured into a honey trap by a young woman, a court has heard.

Mehmet Hassan, 56, was bound with parcel tape and a neck tie and then kicked and stamped to death in his north London flat in March 2014.

The court was told the attackers then ransacked his Islington home after care assistant Leonie Granger let them in.

Mr Hassan met Miss Granger at a Mayfair casino the month before, jurors heard.

Miss Granger is on trial at the Old Bailey accused of murder and false imprisonment, which she denies.

Her boyfriend Kyrron Jackson, of Romborough Way, Lewisham, and his friend Nicholas Chandler, of Lee High Road, south-east London, both 28, are further accused of robbing Mr Hassan.

They are also accused of two counts of plotting to rob employees of Grosvenor Casinos, two counts of conspiracy to have a shotgun and imitation firearm, and two counts of conspiracy to falsely imprison.

They also deny the charges against them.

Well fellas stop trying to stick you D**k in young girls out of your league who are only out for your money. Any rational guy should have seen the angle of money not this extent of events but at least This poor guy had to learn the worst way possible.

There's always idiots willing to do whatever it takes to get other people's money. The older guy should have known better and not even made contact with this tramp. I hope they all get what they deserve which is never going to be enough but at least the sorry asses can think about it from behind bars and can't do anything else to others.

A woman who set a "honey trap" for a professional gambler who was kicked to death for his winnings has been jailed for 16 years.

Leonie Granger from Gillingham, Kent, was sentenced at the Old Bailey having been found guilty of manslaughter.

Her boyfriend Kyrron Jackson, 28, and his friend Nicholas Chandler, 29, were found guilty of murder and jailed for life with a minimum term of 36 years.

Granger, who posed under the name of Rachel, was wined and dined by the divorced father of three who boasted to friends he was not paying her to be with him, the court heard earlier.

On the night he was killed, Mr Hassan had taken Granger to the upmarket Nobu restaurant before giving her £1,000 to gamble with at the nearby Palm Beach Casino.

[...]

Afterwards, while he lay dead in a pool of blood, all three were filmed on Granger's mobile phone throwing £50 notes around a room and even stuffing them in their underpants.

Commenting on the footage, Judge Kennedy told the three defendants: "The eloquence with which it speaks about you is deafening."
