Missing John and Elizabeth Calvert missing in SC

John and Elizabeth Calvert of Hilton Head Island, SC went to a business meeting with Dennis Gerwing on March 3rd. That was the last time they were ever seen.

Gerwing was found dead on March 18th, apparently having committed suicide. And so with him went any clue to their whereabouts.

Police brought out their cadaver-sniffing dogs to the Broadhurst Environmental Landfill near Jesup, Georgia, which receives a portion of Beaufort County's trash. They wrapped up their search the afternoon of the 18th, and have yet to release any results.

Here's to hoping, for what it's worth.

Here is an article on Dennis Gerwing's suicide, which is very strange. Of course his friends believe the mild-mannered wine connoisseur could never turn a knife on himself. Bah... If he could kill two people and remove all trace, he can do anything.

Yeah, this is pretty weird all right. Who commits suicide by slicing open their thigh then following up with a few jabs to the chest (or vice versa, though if either were the case, the former is more likely)? And of course, there appears to be a lot of information not being released by the authorities yet.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- After being questioned by police in their search for a missing couple, Dennis Ray Gerwing slashed himself six times with a steak knife and bled to death in a bathtub lined with a bed comforter and two pillows, according to investigative reports released Wednesday.
