A Pennsylvania DA has announced the of Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka for the 1983 murder of his girlfriend, Nancy Argentino, 23. Snuka has been charged with 3rd degree murder and involuntary manslaughter in connection with her death.

Back in 1983, Snuka was a bad motherfucker in the wrestling ring, back when the WWE was the WWF, today he is a 72 year old, living in New Jersey and accused murderer.

On May 10, 1983, Nancy was taken from a motel room she was sharing with Snuka via EMS with "yellow fluid" coming from her nose and mouth and gasping for air. For those unfamiliar with the significance of "yellow fluid", it generally indicates a severe head injury, often a fatal head injury, which in the case of Nancy was true. She died the same day at an Allentown hospital.

Snuka was interviewed by police and reportedly gave "inconsistent" statements but finally sticking with the story that when they had stopped along to road to piss, Nancy had somehow slipped and fallen, causing massive head trauma that would ultimately take her life.

Authorities were always skeptical of Snuka's story, stating that Nancy had no debris in her wounds, hair or on her clothing to indicate a fall on a slippery, gravel roadway.

Regardless the case went cold. And when I say it went cold, what I mean is that Snuka remained a person of interest, but no one did anything for 30 years.

In 2014, a grand jury was convened to investigate the death of Nancy. Twenty witnesses testified and 37 items were examined, including the autopsy report that indicated that Nancy had suffered "traumatic brain injuries" and other "signs" consistent with domestic violence on her body.

The grand jury also heard how Snuka was charged with assaulting Nancy 5 months prior to her death. Charges that were plead down to lesser charges in exchange for his guilty plea.

Ultimately, the grand jury indicted Snuka and he was arrested by authorities at his home in New Jersey.

As to why he wasn't arrested 32 years ago? Who the fuck knows. An autopsy fixed manner of death as homicide, his stories changed, his final story made no sense AND he had assaulted her before. Maybe someone was dazzled by Superfly's signature "Superfly Splash" and figured that something a silly as a domestic violence murder wasn't enough to derail his career.

Finally after 32 years, Nancy's family has a shot for justice being done in her name.

The charges were announced at a news conference Tuesday afternoon.

Snuka, 72, was arrested Tuesday morning after he surrendered to a Lehigh County detective and arraigned at 1:50 p.m. from the Lehigh County Central Booking Center. He was sent to county jail, but later posted $100,000 bail.

Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin re-opened the case last year, prompted in part by a Morning Call investigation that raised questions about the death of Snuka's 23-year-old girlfriend, Nancy Argentino, in May 1983. The Call story revealed a never-before-seen autopsy report that labeled the case a homicide.
[....]
Snuka had been at a WWF taping at the Allentown Fairgrounds on May 10, 1983, and returned to his Whitehall Township motel room to find Argentino, of Brooklyn, gasping for air and oozing yellow fluid from her mouth and nose, records show.
[....]
An autopsy determined she died of traumatic brain injuries and she suffered more than two dozen cuts and bruises — a possible sign of "mate abuse" — on her head, ear, chin, arms, hands, back, buttocks, legs and feet.

The autopsy also determined her injuries were consistent with being hit with a stationary object. In an autopsy report, forensic pathologist Isidore Mihalakis wrote the case should be investigated as a homicide until proven otherwise.

Snuka originally told at least five people, including the responding police officer, he shoved Argentino earlier that day, causing her to fall and hit her head, according to police interviews obtained by The Morning Call. He later told police those five people misunderstood him, and said Argentino slipped and hit her head when they stopped along the highway to urinate.

Snuka was the only person of interest in the case but was never charged.

In an unprecedented move, Martin announced in January 2014 that a grand jury would investigate Argentino's mysterious death, acknowledging the role of The Morning Call's story. He said it was the oldest case he's ever sent before the grand jury.

Snuka, who lives in Waterford Township, N.J., was diagnosed with stomach cancer, his wife announced earlier this month.

In 1985, the Argentino family won a $500,000 wrongful death case against Snuka by default, but Snuka never paid because he claimed he was broke and couldn't afford a legal defense.

Jimmy Snuka Murder -- Done In By His Own Autobiography

Jimmy 'Superfly’ Snuka (72)
Cops say Jimmy Snuka has been lying about what REALLY happened the day his GF died for DECADES ... and his own autobiography helped convince cops he's the murderer.

TMZ Sports has obtained documents from the grand jury that indicted the former WWF superstar ... which spells out why investigators believe he killed Nancy Argentino in 1983.

Long story short ... cops say Snuka told investigators in 1983 that Nancy injured her head while the two were "fooling around" outside of their motel room in Allentown, PA when he pushed her and she fell, striking her head.

Fast forward to 2012 ... when Snuka published his autobiography, "Superfly: The Jimmy Snuka Story" in which Jimmy's story changes RADICALLY.

In the book, Snuka says Nancy slipped and fell on her own while going to the bathroom at a rest stop. He makes no mention of an altercation whatsoever.

Well, cops took notice of the extreme change in his story and reopened the case -- ultimately, determining there was enough evidence to prove Snuka laid a serious beatdown on Nancy, which directly caused her death.

Snuka was arrested today in his NJ home. He has since posted bail.

Odd to me it took this long, even with the biography drawing new attention, odd it took that long since that new attention was drawn too.

The incident/story is no big surprise though. Old school wrestling fans have know about and joked about Snuka possibly having murdered a girl routinely. You pretty much can't discuss Snuka without it being brought up. Just surprising they're finally getting around to charging him. Not sure how they prove a case this long after.

In this case they didn't have to. It would appear he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.
His guilty plea to a lesser charge was for an assault on her 5 months prior to her death.

For her death, he has been arrested and posted bond already. I would expect this to go to trial, I don't think he'll cop to murder or manslaughter on this.

Read that wrong. Should be interesting to see how this plays out, in that case.

WWE REMOVES Jimmy Snuka from website and suspend 'legends' contract following murder charge
After removing all mentions of Hulk Hogan after his n-word rant, the company has taken similar action as Snuka's case continues WWE has removed all mention of Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka from its website after it was revealed he was been charged with third degree murder and involuntary manslaughter.

The company has taken down his profile from the both the Hall of Fame and alumni sections of its official site, and confirmed they have suspended his 'legends' contract whilst the case is ongoing.

They have issued a statement, which read: "Jimmy Snuka's non-wrestling 'legends' contract has been suspended and we are currently removing his images from our media platforms pending the outcome of this case.”

Removing his images from media platforms = he never existed

WWE owns pretty much everything wrestling related now, even beyond what is on tv. I wouldn't be surprised if nearly every single old piece of footage/match some random person videotaped off the tv 30-40 years ago from some random old promotion and converted it and uploaded it to youtube didn't fall under WWEs legal ownership.

It's funny cuz this is such a well known incident. WWE has known about the controversy and suspicions regarding it forever. But once the law makes a decision and it becomes clear to the mainstream what the deal is, they gotta make the excessive moves to guard against any and all even slightly bad press.

The Hogan thing is a fuckin joke too.

Snuka's lawyer alleges that he is mentally unfit.

Comparing wrestling to playing professional football in terms of head injuries, Jimmy Snuka's lawyer is raising questions about his competency to stand trial for the murder of his girlfriend.

Defense attorney, William Moore says that if questioned enough Snuka would admit to being the one "on the grassy knoll" the day JFK was shot.

On forensic analyst has stated that Snuka would be unable to aid in his own defense, a key element for proving competency for trial.

Even Snuka's neighbors are coming to his defense, an unnamed neighbor is quoted as saying: "Leave him alone. He's sick. He's dying. He's not coming back".

Those are great thoughts but Nancy isn't coming back either, she died a brutal death at the hands of an abuser, and it's high time that someone pays for that crime.

It is assumed that the prosecution will challenge the defense's claims of mental incompetence.

Just earlier this month, a judge in Lehigh Valley, PA ruled that WWE Legend Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka was not mentally competent to stand trial in the 1983 death of his then-girlfriend Nancy Argentino. Since then, WrestleCon announced that Snuka will be appearing at WrestleCon 2017 during WrestleMania 33 week in Orlando.
[....]
new hearing will be held in December to re-evaluate Snuka's competency, although his lawyers argued that his condition won't improve. We noted last week that prosecutors filed a motion asking the court to force Snuka to participate in outpatient mental health treatment for 60 days to determine whether he can be fit to stand trial.

So, he is not mentally fit to stand trial, but he can appear at WrestleCon 2017?

Not really feeling this.......

I would be more enthusiastic about an investigation into the suppression of that autopsy concluding murder.

You know this guy's brain is fried, on top of which he's dying. What meaningful punishment can we exact? The injuries on that autopsy clearly didn't come from a fall, and the only people able to render timely justice didn't. I'd like to know who, and why.

He's not going to be wrestling at this. These old fucks will show up at these conventions and just sit there at a table, signing/selling the occassional autograph, trying to sell cheap merchandise, that kind of thing. It's often quite depressing and sad.

I didn't think he was. It is still an event that will presumably require some social skills and give him a chance to bask in the adoration of his fans.

A lot of these guys, even the ones not suffering from dementia or some other mental illness, even the ones who aren't showing up wasted or high, will often appear quite offputting. That's why i said it can be quite depressing and sad. You can tell a lot of these fellas don't really give a shit about any of this, they aren't pleased to see fans, anything like that, they don't have anything of value to offer, they're juts desperately trying to make a buck or two peddling some shoddy shit and overcharging for a worthless autographed picture.

An old timer attending despite his significant level of senile dementia really wouldn't be that jarring and the conduct/social skills of such a person wouldn't be too out of the norm for such events.
