Hope is the thing with feathers.
Cops have arrested a man they say tried to rape an 11-year-old girl in a Bronx park, police said Friday.

The child was inside St. Mary’s Park on St. Anne Ave. and E. 146th St. in Mott Haven about 8:45 p.m. Thursday when 44-year-old Javier Lopez-Bautista walked up and tried to talk to her.

She tried to walk away from the stranger but Lopez-Bautista grabbed her, forced her to the ground and took off her pants, according to cops.

He was unfastening his own pants when the girl screamed for help. When Lopez-Bautista looked up to see if anyone heard the scream, the brave girl scrambled away, police said.

She ran out of the park and flagged down a passing cop, who nabbed Lopez-Bautista after a quick search of the area.

Medics took the girl to Montefiore Medical Center with minor injuries.

Cops charged Lopez-Bautista with attempted rape and attempted sex abuse of a victim under the age of 13.

Thank god he was stupid enough to try to rape her in public in a park, instead of snatching her and taking her some place private. And good for her for screaming, fighting back, and getting away.
