I have been having a few problems lately but I put it down to living right at the edge of no where technologically and our local cable company, movies not being available to stream, the picture tiling, and sometimes the movies will just stop and I have to start over and fast forward to where I left off, maybe it isn't just me, huh?

I have no trouble. All the Biggest Losers are on now, Storage wars, and The Cleveland Show. Also, Dutch. John Hughes flick, really good.

We recently watched White Irish Drinkers. Not bad. Not awesome. Decent time killer. We also watched The Usual Suspects because it's one of those films that I enjoy watching once a year or so. Most of my Netflix watching is geared toward documentaries and stand-up comedy. Two great documentaries I've seen recently are Generation RX (I'll probably watch The Medicated Child later today) and, just in time for Halloween season, Nightmares in Red, White and Blue, a history of American horror. It was a fun one. All Watch Instantly, of course.

I just watched Dungeon Girl, what a fucking weird ass movie. It's suppose to be based on Natascha Kampusch Story. It's obviously very low budget and the majority of the movie is voiced over by the girl, whose voice is utterly irritating. There are multiple clips of the man having intercourse with a small doll while chanting "all women are witches".

Very bizarre.

Yesterday I watched The Maid >. It has some English , some Mandarin , sometimes the English was a bit accented and hard to understand . I enjoyed the movie very much. It was scary without buckets of gore , a very twisty plot that kept me wondering who was who ( good evil ) til the last bit . A young woman moves to Singapore to take a job as a maid . She is lonely , homesick , knowing only the family she works for . It is the ghost month everyone is telling her stories about how this month the ghost visit and if you fail to satisfy them they torment you . So naturally she becomes paranoid and starts jump at shadows . Or does she ?

I also watched Case 39 . An American horror movie . It was good , but could have been so much better . I like movies that are a bit more subtle, that make me think about the characters , the motives , I like twists and turns . This was a good movie , but it did not engage me the was the maid did . A social worker goes the extra mile to rescue a child . I found it kinda far fetched that social services were called just because the girl's grades dropped , and she was nodding off in class . I guess the stories we read on here have so many abused children that are showing numerous signs of abuse ,but no one reports it until they see bruises , or hear screams ( if they do then ) . I thought Jodelle Ferland did a great job as the child Lillith Sullivan. The social worker just flipped her opinion of Lillith too soon . It was more predictable than I would have liked.

I started watching Touching Evil . A series about a detective inspector solving cases after being on leave following a near death gunshot wound . It is a British drama starring Robson Green . So far it is very good .

I also enjoyed Wire in the blood Also starring Robson Green . But it appears to be dvd only now . Maybe they willo bring it back
to streaming soon . In this one Robson is a psychiatrist assisting a detective inspector .

Waking the dead is another British cop drama this one focused on cold cases . It is good .

I'm up to season 3 of Grey's Anatomy--don't judge! Doctor shows keep my MIL out of the family room.

May mix it up and watch Caprica.

I don't watch much horror, not my thing, but I do love the English Police/Detective shows, I'm watching "The Last Detective" with Peter Davidson of Dr. Who fame and another called "DNA", don't know who is in that one. Just finished the entire series of "Inspector Lewis". I have seen "Wire in the Blood" and "Touching Evil" loved both of them. Have you seen "George Gently"? There are several others just can't think of the names right now . Oh one I do remember, "Luther".

All are intstant streaming except for "Wire in the Blood", but do think I watch it streaming

the British Comedies are the best, the old and new ones,

Are You Being Served?
The Good Neighbors
Keeping Up Appearances
The Vicar of Dibley

My best friend's mother is English and she got me to watching the comedies on PBS in the 1970's every Wednesday night. And I still watch them today except now they are on Saturday night. LOL

Keeping up Appearances! I love that show! I keep trying to see a full episode of Outnumbered, it looks like it might be along the lines of Malcom in the Middle.

Outnumbered, I haven't seen that one, I exist in the past mostly LOL.

I have a English friend who just recently immigrated to Atlanta and according to him British television and movies are CRAP and he would rather watch American TV, funny huh? LOL!

I really recommend The Vicar of Dibley with Dawn French, she's hilarious and the show is hilarious too! It was on Streaming on Netflix but now it seems that it is not, sorry.

I fucking LOATHE Ghost Adventures. Every fucking episode Zak DoucheBagans is being "posessed by a demonic spirit." I literally busted them making shit up one episode! They're like... "We JUST took this picture on the lawn of this prison and look at all the orbs around me!" Except in the photograph he's wearing a completely different douchey Affliction t-shirt than he's wearing in the "live shot." Nice try, liars.

I turned it into a drinking game. Every time Zak points at something in a way to bring attention to his arm muscles, drink! (you get really fucked up this way.) Every time Zak gets possessed, drink. Every time the fat guy screams like a little girl, drink! There are more rules, but I've forgotten.

Right now, the hubs and I are watching "Dead Like Me." I wish it had lasted longer.

I have not watched George Gently , or Luther yet . I did watch all 15 seasons of a touch of Frost . Its older , but not too shabby . Someone posted a clip from Mrs. Brown' s boys on the you tube videos that make you lol thread they have full episodes on you tube funny show.

Fawlty Towers is on netflix streaming . I love that one my favorite is the Germans episode.

Hey, guys! If you haven't seen Tucker & Dale vs. Evil yet, it's streaming on NetFlix and is awesome, wickedly good fun. Or, if you prefer your genre fare a bit more mind bending, check out Rubber. Rubber's a hilarious indie satire about a murderous, telekinetic tire named Robert... Yep, a murderous, telekinetic tire... Named Robert...! ;)

Also well worth a watch... Black Death, The Countess, Heartless, and I Saw the Devil... Enjoy! :D

I'm a bit irritated with Netflix for not having a better selection of old war movies/war documentaries in their "watch instantly" category.

One of my best friends works at a small production company in my hometown. They've been making movies since high school--I've always been a fan. I recently learned that their latest movie is available on instant netflix and finally got around to watching it. It's a pretty good suspense film.

My son's going to be in another movie, tentatively titled, Cold Shoulder! The head honcho is oout collecting backers and begging for money. A very common occupation of producers and writers. It's a traditional ghost story, and sounds pretty good from what I've heard. Keep you updated...told ya he was a babe!

A Netflix movie I'd like to recommend for family viewing. It's a Western, but a charming and humorous story called Gunless. Perfectly safe for kids and adults can enjoy it too. Poor outlaw winds up in a town that has no guns except hunting rifles...no spoilers! I don't usually recommend the gentle humor genre, but give this a try; I think you'll smile all the way thru. Especially the outlaw forced to wear the Chinese laundry man's trousers while gunfighter's clothes are being boiled and de-stinked. He was tied up in a pigpen for a week.

I recommend the documentary The Last Days of WWII, The Battle of Stalingrad and the entire Victory in the Pacific. The first installment of WW I, The Great War is very good. The rest unfortunately is on disc. I highly recommend it; you can see why the Treaty of Versailles led to the rise of National Socialism and the Nazi Regime.

Now I have to go obsess over Hoarders.

Netflix took my Roseanne off so I am hating the shit out of them right now. But I did see Tucker and Dale, and it was funny as balls. Also, Trade is a good one. Kind of a tired premise, sex trafficking, but it has Kevin Cline and it has a happy ending. Not alot of graphic rape either if that upsets you.

I watched I Saw The Devil yesterday, twice. I fucking LOVE that movie! I cheered that cop on every step of the way. Also watched The Warrior's Way, and loved every minute. Cowboys and Ninjas. DAMN. Watch it; wonderful mad ninja skills! Nice story and lots of action, you won't be sorry. Now I'm rewatching Spartacus because I'm a perv and like to look at handsome nekid men.

I just had a random thought...Y'know how Morbid is always, "gimmee some money, donate to the site"? Well, how 'bout we make and sell a CALENDAR? We could call it "The Man Whores of Dreamin'Demon". I bet we could make a lot of money.

They are currently streaming Spider-Man and his amazing friends .Watched two episodes and had a wild craving for Count Chocula cereal .

Is this *movies* only?

swivel turned me on to Breaking Bad (TV Drama) last year. I was addicted. Netflix has the first 3 seasons online. Season 4 is for sale on iTunes and such, Season 5 is to be the last season.
Then I watched the entire run of 24 (TV Action & Adventure). I have never been a Keifer Sutherland fan. I am however now a fan of Jack Bower. *swoons*
Weeds (TV Comedies) has 5 seasons on Netflix. I thought that was the end of the series. Due to the fact that I live under a rock, I just found out LAST WEEK that there is more to see...somewhere! yay!
I have also started Damages (TV Dramas) , heh - I didn't realized Glenn Close was still acting - and Arrested Development (TV Comedies) where they always seem to be stepping just over that proverbial line.

2 standups that we enjoyed:
Louis C.K.: Hilarious 2009
John Pinette: I'm Starvin'

This is goes out to all the Masterpiece Theatre, Agatha Christie, Miss Marple fans, Netflix just recently added 8 more episodes to the list. Originally it was 6 episodes with 2 of them being DVD only, but now they have 14. I love all the OLD English comedies, police dramas, and detective shows. :hippie:

@ cubby I'm having this strong psychic intuition out of nowhere that you like star trek , its on netflix .

I started watching The Killing today . Its a series about a murder. So far it seems like one episode covers about a day and a half into the investigation . I've watched two episodes and I'm hooked . Check it out if you like crime stories . This is from the reviews http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/The_Killing/70180183?trkid=4213507

The Killing is a well written crime novel for television. A show that leads you slowly enough through the crime investigation to FEEL what the characters feel. The sick gut retching agony of losing a child to a violent crime, for instance....it gives you time to really empathize with the parents, their sorrow, anger, pain. But that is only a peek at the meat of this plot. CSI is section 2, page 2 condensed newspaper reporting by comparison, and is wonderful for a quick fix. The Killing however, is a series to sink your mental and emotional teeth into, so to speak.

If you don't mind subtitles , if you like horror go watch Sheitan . It has everything creepy dolls , freaky girl fondling a dog , Christmas theme . I think I watched most of it with my mouth open and a wtf expression on my face . Also a little person in hospital scrubs and a goat on a stretcher shhh must not say too much .

Sorry for bumping this years-old topic but I figured it would be better than starting a new one with a similar theme. I'm actually looking for some good horror movies to watch but I'm starting to think that I might just be too picky. The best recent ones have been Occulus and Absentia. Both had some flaws but were pretty decent. My favorite "horror" films of the last ten years has been Let The Right One In, Pontypool and Funny Games, but they weren't particularly scary. I've sat thru quite a few middling to poor horror films tho, from anthologies like The ABCs of Death and V/H/S 1 & 2, to supernatural spookfests like Haunt, the Awakening or Come Back To Me to slashers like Mandy Lane or High Tension. I can stomach "torture porn" like Martyrs or A Serbian Film, but so far I haven't seen one that was truly affecting. (I like A Serbian Film better than Martyrs for its sheer insanity and message.)

So anyone got any recommendations for me for good Netflix Instant horror?

Thanks for reviving the thread, mobiusclimber. I need some recommendations too.
I'm more into suspense or apocalypse than I am horror. Netflix won't let me bring up the movies I gave more than 3 stars to. I only bother rating them to keep track of what I've watched. It seems several movies come out at the same time with the same theme.
So, I can only give you one, "Stephen King's A Good Marriage".
