What a terrifying experience. I'm glad they lived to testify against him and to see him go down for his crimes.

My neck of the woods...there are sum perverts out here. Raping the man was a power thing. Alot of blacks have a ton of hate towards whites, thats how their raised. Don't need a reason...New Orleans is the most racist place I have ever lived.

A carjacking rapist robber who shoots people? Give ol Spider a cutting torch, a pair of thick leather work gloves (like he had in his weld floor in the factory days), a 5ft long piece of rebar, and ol Spider will take care of Mr. Cain for society.

Now, I'd probably bite right through my cheek, but I didn't have that kind of discipline then. Give the guy a break, the perp apparently had some way of restraining them, no one would assault my man without my interference, and vise versa.

I'm sure it must be immobilizing to have a loaded gun pointing at you. I hope I never experience it. As a martial artist, I train for this type of thing. But that doesn't make it any less frightening; only gives me a little more advantage, over the average person, when trying to disarm the attacker. It's still dangerous.

Most people fear the entire gun. The only thing to fear is the end of that barrel. Most people don't realize what a wonderful tool a gun makes against the wielder. If the criminal has a committed grip - which I presume most would - the barrel makes a wonderful handle by which you can direct their hand better than the hand itself. No matter how strong they are, the wrist and thumb-side of the hand are weaker than the rest of the arm and grip. Personally, I probably wouldn't try to take the gun away; I would point it in a direction and try to squeeze the trigger finger to squeeze off all the rounds. Or, I'd point it back at them and watch them try to run away.

That said, I could not stand by and watch someone be raped. My blood would be boiling; I would be too enraged. If the gun was within arm's length, I would try to take it away. Because afterward, if I survived, I would have to live with what I did or didn't do, and I know I would not be able to live with myself if I stood by, powerless, not trying to do something.

As for sucking a cock...I'd definitely be close enough to the gun to take it away. No motherfucker is going to make me suck a cock. The day that happens is the day I'll point the gun at my own head and pull the trigger. I'm not going out as a guy whose last act was to suck some asshole's cock and then get shot anyway.

And that will come down to the reaction time of the person holding the gun. If they have normal reflexes,it will take them at least .3 seconds to realize you're attacking them - but that's if they're at the ready for it. It will take about the same time or longer for them to react in turn, that is, fire the gun as a response. So, with a good element of surprise, the defender may have an advantage of one second or more. Of course, at that point, one better damn well have a plan for defending against what happens.

Like most bullies, a person brandishing a gun is depending on the victim being scared or immobilized with fear. As we know, many bullies, once they get their ass kicked, run home and cry to mommy. We've read about many criminals who, at the slightest indication their plan is going awry, run off.

I'm not saying that will always happen, nor is it a solution. I'm just saying with the element of surprise and good reflexes a trained person has a chance to subdue a criminal with a gun. And if you're Chuck Norris, you have a better chance than most.

That's not a joke. Before he became a big action star, Chuck Norris was actually asked to testify in court to prove a person could be disarmed from a distance. If I remember the situation correctly, the court questioned whether or not somebody shot and killed a man in self defense. The prosecution said it was not self defense because the shooter was far enough away from the attacker that he should not have feared for his life. I also forget what the distance was, but Chuck Norris was able to close the distance and disarm the shooter when the gun was not already cocked. As Chuck himself relayed, if it had already been cocked he would not have been able to do it (this story is found in one of his books). So, food for thought.

I wouldn't want to go up against a gun...but you never know if the criminal will kill you anyway. I would rather take my chances and possibly live, rather than be shot in cold blood praying some piece of shit will decide whether I live or die.

I went up against a gun...He pulled it out, and I said what the fuck are you doing...He kicked the table just hard enough to spill my tea and I said...you're a fucking asshole I just made that. We totally got robbed, I got hit. A lot. That moment when you think they're going to shoot you, is the moment you've never been so happy in your life that they are just hitting you with the gun instead. I didn't cry once...actually that's not true, Our friend took care of everything a few hours later...then I cried...after we got all of our shit (drugs)(money)back. That was a fucked up day.

I'd be more concerned for my husband than myself. I know to anticipate the possibility of sexual assault, men do not. The psychological impact on a man could therefore be greater. I've experienced a parade of sexual impositions and regained my self possession, making me uniquely suited to help. Lastly, the shared nature of the experience would have drawn my husband and I closer.

Okay, well I'll be the woman who says it, I'd rather my husband use is fucking brain so we both survive then to try to play the idiot hero that gets himself shot and possibly me.

I'd personally be proud of my husband for keeping a level head and doing the smart thing instead of being a dipshit and putting us both at further risk of serious injury or death.

I've survived rape, it sucked but I know I'm strong enough to do it again if I had to but I don't want to face being a widow and losing my husband.

Perhaps I took it for granted, because the discussion was directed at defense against a gun, but the first step to surviving such an ordeal is, indeed, trying to talk one's way out of it. The martial art I practice isn't about fighting, it's about self-defense. Part of that means exploring all options before physically engaging someone unless, of course, directly attacked. We teach people that if they can run away, then run away - it's the simplest form of self-defense.

I wasn't sirecting specifically at you or biteme who had been discussing what steps to take, insted I was doing a blanket rebuttal to the women who had said they'd have no respect for or leave their SO's if their SO didn't fight a man with a gun.

I'm a different breed than them clearly because I would want my husband to survive the attack with me not be a dumbass and go into a gun fight with his fists. And I found the statements to the contrary silly and well, dumb. To me it equated to: "I want my man to die fighting". Well good for you because I want to grow old with mine. I'm not living some fairy tale awaiting a knight in shining armor to save me.

If his surviving means that I am a rape victim (again) then we'd cross that bridge together because my vagina isn't worth his life. And honestly, the boyfriend in this story fighting the gunman could have gotten them both killed or seriously injured. The fact that he didn't act like a fool is probably what saved them because a good Samaratin got shot.

Personally I don't want to be dressed in black, racked with sobs talking about how my husband died trying to be a hero while my boys place flowers on his casket. No more than he would want the roles reversed.

No one has said that the girlfriend should have fought or that a guy in this position should leave his girlfriend because she didn't fight to save him. Why is that? I'm way meaner than my husband ever thought of being and when pissed off, a more effective fighter. Shouldn't he be able to say that I should fight to save him from a sexual assault too? truth is that most people would say no, he can't say that because that would be wrong, sexist, unmanly. But females can say that a guy needs to face death to save them? Yeah, not so much for me.

But like I said, I seem to be from a different stock so... My husband's luck I guess because I'm not looking for a hero, I'm looking for the man I'm going to spend the rest of my life with.

I lost a child...became an addict and played the gangster game...I needed to feel some power and wreck some shit...mostly myself. Me and another woman sold drugs outs of a really big old house that no one was allowed to get high in...it was a crack store not a crack house. and we were good at it too...which is why we got robbed...lots of drugs and money in the house. And these clowns thought we were an easy target because two girls, they never considered who we selling drugs for ...it worked out well actually, no one with any bad intentions ever came to the door again. It was two years of my life...just a tiny segment really and it was terrifying and awesome...to the guy hitting me with the gun...no tears for you. You know he walked out with my cigarettes...and I wanted one so bad after. More reds...fucking faggot.

But when it comes to rape and assault it can go both ways you could submit and be killed or fight and be killed. I personally rather go down fighting versus submitting and being killed any way. And really when you think about it he could've done something when the woman was being raped. It was only one person with a gun. The rapist had to be somewhat preoccupied with raping the woman. He couldn't have been able to both subdue the woman and the man.

To lose respect for my partner over him being raped would be no different than if he lost respect for me in the same circumstance, and that would be an outrageous betrayal, IMO.
