Hope is the thing with feathers.
After a Brooklyn man fell unconscious from an opioid overdose while driving his Lexus in Brooklyn, his desperate 7-year-old daughter climbed onto his lap and commandeered the vehicle, police sources said Friday.

A pair of astonished EMS workers spotted her as she was about to drive onto the busy Belt Parkway about 5 p.m. Thursday. The medics had just dropped off a patient at Coney Island Hospital when they saw the luxury car cruise by their ambulance on Ocean Ave. near Nixon Court.

“One turned to the other and said, ‘Is that a kid driving that car?’” a law enforcement source said.

The girl was sitting on her passed-out father’s lap, operating the vehicle. After she drove through a red light as she approached the Belt Parkway, the medics got in front of her hit the ambulance’s brakes. The slow-moving Lexus rear-ended the ambulance and came to a stop.

Realizing that the child’s father was suffering from an opioid overdose, the medics administered Naloxone and revived him.

Eric Roman, 37, was taken to an area hospital, where he remained Friday. The child was not harmed during the ordeal, police said.

Cops charged him with reckless endangerment, acting in a manner injurious to a child and driving a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs.

Lucky little kid.
Not everyone gets to drive a Lexus.
Take her and the car and rehome them to a loving family.

I have a two car garage and only one vehicle taking up space.
That precious treasure could be right at home there in a nice warm dry garage.
The Lexus of course would be stored offsite.

She's probably had to "take the wheel" her whole entire life. Used to taking care of herself, otherwise she would not have made it to 7yo.

Its sad that a child is put into this frightening position
Children should not have to be responsible for their parents fuck ups
She went thru a red lite Thank god she didn't kill someone
Poor poor child

Brooklyn dad claims he only vaped pot before overdosing in car

07/28/17

A Brooklyn dad accused of overdosing on heroin and passing out while driving his car though Brooklyn — leaving his 7-year-old daughter to take the wheel — claimed he had merely vaped marijuana, new court papers reveal.

Eric Roman Jr. was released on $100,000 bail after he was arraigned on charges of putting his daughter in grave danger, officials said Friday.

...Roman was heading towards the Belt Parkway in his 2016 grey Lexus when he passed out around 5:30 p.m. July 20

Meanwhile a pair of quick-thinking EMTs spotted the girl and cut in front of the sedan, allowing it to crash into the emergency service truck’s bumper.

The EMTs found Roman "snoring heavily, pale, sweating profusely, and breathing at no more than four breaths per minute," according to the criminal complaint against him.

The EMTs gave Roman two rounds of Narcan — four milligrams, then two milligrams — and he regained consciousness, leading investigators to conclude he was under the influence of heroin, according to court papers.
