An Odessa man is behind bars after police say he assaulted his girlfriend and placed their young child in danger.

Domonick McGee, 20, has been charged and arrested for Abandoning or Endangering a Child, Assault Causing Bodily Injury (Family Violence).

According to the Odessa Police Department, their officers responded to Fairgreen Apartments on Saturday for a call of a domestic disturbance.

When police arrived on scene they met with a 19-year-old woman and her boyfriend, identified as McGee.

An investigation of the call revealed that the two had been in an argument. After that McGee ran up to the woman and grabbed a car seat with their 3-month-old child inside of it.

McGee allegedly began swinging the car seat around putting the child in immediate danger, police say.

The woman was able to go to a nearby apartment where she asked someone to call the police. As she waited, she was reportedly hit in the back of the head by McGee.
