Two caretakers in Iowa are accused of washing a teenage disabled woman in a dangerous mix of bleach and epsom salts, causing third degree burns.

Court documents show that Katrina Eubanks, 50, and her husband Garry Eubanks, 54, put 19-year-old Airionna Bent into a bathtub with the chemicals, casing burns all over her body and intense pain. Ms Bent is unable to speak, and is severely disabled.

Ms Bent is frequently cared for by the Eubanks, and her mother says that she is surprised that they would harm her daughter like that. Becky Bent-Weible, the mother, says that she placed a lot of trust in Ms Eubanks.

The couple was given caretaker responsibilities by a local company that provides services for adults with intellectual disabilities. Their applications to work for the company involved background checks, which both reportedly passed.

The Eubanks didn’t immediately take Ms Bent to the hospital, and instead decided to try and take her to Florida for care. They were arrested there on Iowa warrants for charges of kidnapping, neglect, and abandonment of a dependent person.

The burns were reportedly so bad that investigators could see fingerprint imprints after touching her skin.

Bleach baths are frequently cited in online forums as potential home remedies to a variety of skin ailments, however it was not immediately clear why the Eubanks may have put the 19-year-old in the bath.

A crowd funding page has been set up to help the family with the medical bills here.

Going to google bleach baths.
[doublepost=1498577321,1498577111][/doublepost]Okay ... wow ... its a thing.

These two assholes have probably been abusing this girl since day one and got away with it because she is nonverbal. If the world was a fair place these two smug fat pieces of shit would have to sit in a vat of battery acid.

Looking at them and the vacant eyes I am shocked they can read TBH.

A bleach bath..seriously.
I don't even need to google that to know it is effing dangerous as hell.
It is time for theirs...everyday for the rest of their lives

This may sound mean, but why exactly was Airionna living at someone else's house in the first place? Was her family tired of caring for a severely disabled kid, and placed her in an alternate setting as soon as they legally could (once she turned 19)?

An Iowa couple accused of inflicting chemical burns on a disabled woman in their care have been sent to prison.

Court records say 51-year-old Katrina Eubanks was sentenced Wednesday in Polk County District Court to 30 years and 55-year-old Garry Eubanks was given 10 years.

The Urbandale couple had been charged with kidnapping, two counts of neglect of a dependent person and one count of abuse of a dependent person that resulted in injury.

Prosecutors dropped the kidnapping charge in exchange for Katrina Eubanks' guilty pleas and dropped all but one count of neglect for Garry Eubanks' plea.

Police say Katrina Eubanks, a hired caregiver, bathed the 19-year-old woman in bleach and Epsom salt on May 28. Police also say the Eubankses didn't seek treatment for her burns for days.

30 years seems like a long sentence unless they were intentionally trying to harm her. If they are just stupid people who tried a folk remedy and got the amounts wrong (bleach and epsom salts), the sentence is perhaps excessive.

How much do you need for anal bleaching?
Asking for a friend? lol.

Stupidity or on purpose they deserve the punishment for the damage inflicted and the world will have a few less idiots bouncing off others for awhile.

There was no need to treat this woman with a home remedy when she would be entitled to go to a hospital or clinic for any treatments she might need.

After she was burned they would have known she needed a emergency care and chose to do nothing.

The female carer got exactly what she deserved to sit and suffer like she did to the woman she was suppose to care for.
