Both men were taken to Nash General Hospital and are expected to survive.
After the 90-second-long incident, two men fled in a white car, although police said they were unsure if there was one or two gunmen.
Lewis met with authorities and surrendered near his Rocky Mount home after the Nash County Sheriff's Office contacted his father, Lt. Todd Wells said. He is on probation for a federal gun charge and could face more charges.
