BUENA PARK CALIF.– The county coroner conducted an autopsy Sunday to determine the cause of death of a woman whose body was found Saturday stuffed in a suitcase and left in a dumpster at a Buena Park apartment complex.
A resident looking for recyclables in the 7400 block of Franklin Street just after 7 a.m. Saturday morning opened the suitcase to discover the body, Buena Park Police Lt. Robin Sells said.
Police would not comment on the condition of the body or how long it was believed to have been in the dumpster. A police news release said the woman was small-framed and in her 20s and said she had no identification.
Witness Brian Anders said he saw a blood-stained suitcase in the dumpster below his second-floor apartment.
Anders said he was awakened at 7 a.m. by the voice of the property manager talking on his cell phone to police. He said he heard the words, “Dead body in the dumpster.â€
Anders said he went downstairs where he saw a small mustard-colored suitcase – which he estimated to be 3 feet long by 2 feet wide by 2 feet tall – in the dumpster, unzipped.
“I saw some skin, some hair, a mole,†Anders said. He said a corner of the suitcase was stained by blood.
