SAN FRANCISCO - What do you get when you put 2,800 stumpy little legs on a beach in California? You get North Cal Corgi Con 2016.

More than 700 Welsh Corgis were present at Ocean Beach in California for the gathering, which included a group photo, fundraisers and even a wedding proposal. Agility competitions, costume contests and lots of barking were also on the agenda for the event.

North Cal Corgi Con was founded in 2013 and has been attracting an increasing number of the dwarf dogs ever since.

"This is the perfect excuse to come to the beach. The event exceeded our expectations and clearly there is big love for these Corgis,” said Corgi Con founder and absolute genius Cynthia Lee.

The bi-annual event happens in both the summer and the fall as beach conditions become optimal for a swarm of absurdly short dogs.

"Corgis are lovable. They always want to play with you and this is a great opportunity for Kona, my dog to play with other Corgis," said PJ Arrellano. Arrellano flew in all the way from Hawaii for the event.

Adam Lingenfelter came all the way from Alabama to propose to his girlfriend. He said she had no idea he was flying her all the way across the country to propose to her at a gathering of dogs that were historically used in the herding of sheep. She said she was pretty nervous, but she did say yes. Her acceptance of the proposal was met with the approval of the Corgis in attendance.
