Skylar Nemetz, 20, was charged with murder over the death of his wife Tarrah, 19, though he says shooting her in the back of the head was the result of an accident

Nemetz reportedly became enraged after a co-worker told him that another man had brought liquor over to the home while Nemetz was out
Pierce County prosecutors charged a soldier in Washington State with murder Wednesday night for shooting his 19-year-old wife in the back of the head with an assault rifle.

Skylar Nemetz, 20,
[...]
allegedly angry that another man had brought liquor for his wife, Tarrah, 19, while Nemetz was at a training exercise at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

He had no prior criminal record and was held on $1million bail.
Nemetz originally gave conflicting accounts of his wife's killing in the aftermath of the incident, including telling a neighbor that his wife accidentally shot herself while cleaning the rifle,
[...]
The round struck Tarrah, who went by Danielle, in the back of the head, passing through and piercing the computer screen she was sitting in front of.
[...]
did not call 911, instead a neighbor who had heard the gunshot phoned police who arrived on the scene.

Investigators questioned Nemetz's version of events before he told them that he fired at her intentionally, but that the magazine was out of the weapon and that he believed the chamber was clear.

'Mr. Nemetz said he picked up the AR-15, turned the selector switch from safe to fire and possibly shouldered the rifle and pulled the trigger,' deputy prosecutor Jared Ausserer wrote
[...]
'He stated that he did all of this while the rifle was pointed at the back of his wife’s head. He provided no reason why he did this and said that it was a stupid thing to do,'
[...]
After he shot her, Nemetz put the rifle in the closet and pushed the magazine under the bed before dumping out a bottle of cinnamon whiskey into the toilet.
[...]
Nemetz phoned his aunt from jail the day after his wife was killed and was repeatedly saying 'I love my wife. I love my wife.'
[....]
Nemetz's co-workers told police he saw the couple two hours before the shooting, when Nemetz thanked him for bringing over liquor.
[...]
co-worker then said that it was another man who brought liquor to the home while Nemetz was out, which reportedly made Nemetz 'furious and visually upset.'

Nemetz reportedly kept several guns in the house, and Court Commissioner Meagan Foley ordered those turned over in the event that he posts bail.

I like when they make it easy, really easy. Your wife 'shot herself' so you shove the gun in a cupboard and magazine under a bed.

He was looking for an excuse to kill her.

Those pictures are a reminder that looks can be deceiving.
Despite the smiling pictures of these two, I'm betting this relationship was filled with abuse because of this guy's jealously.
Because an over the top reaction like this doesn't happen unless you are a jealous control freak.

I dunno.. he may have had cause- who was this other fucking guy anyways, the good liquor fairy?? I personally wouldn't be out bringing liquor to women unless i'm looking for something in return - whether they are married or single. And I'm pretty sure any male with a penis will agree with that. So, i would bet she had a history with getting drunk during the day and banging this guy while hubby was out earning a living and hubby finally snapped. But he should have shot the liquor toting douche as well.

Uhhhh, david, even if your scenario is correct*, do you really feel the proper response to cheating is the death penalty? I think packing up your shit and leaving with a "fuck you, bitch" would be more appropriate. Asswad killed her because he doesn't know how to behave...y'know, like a MAN instead of an immature, insecure douchenozzle whose response to his problem is to go full metal jacket. Waste of air and space. Murdering scumfuck and a disgrace to our military.

*I don't think your assumption is correct; women are allowed to have friends...even MALE friends. We don't generally rip off our clothes and demand sex every time we're alone with a man. Really! We don't.

When it comes to men losing their shit over women I try to keep an open mind as I have met quite a few batshit crazy ones over the years, some who even push the guys purposely to see where their breaking point is. I have seen stand up, good hearted manly men turned into blabbering psychotic nutjobs because of an evil woman. Who knows what went on there?? Not Me- I am just offering up a possible motives for what to us on the outside may see as an overreaction.

so you must have gay friends then that you can drink and chit-chat with and talk about drapes and stuff? Being a red blooded male it's in my DNA to try to bang every (decent looking) woman I think i may have a shot with. Right or wrong, I am what i am.

It's def fishy.

IF the story is true and some dude was bringing booze over(which likely also means he was drinking with her at the house), then she's a dumbass of the lowliest caliber. The husband is a piece of shit though, no doubt about that, total scumbag. But she may have been quite a dummy.

Oh and Skylar is a total stripper name, like female stripper name. This guy was destined to fail in life. It's bad enough when parents name their daughter that, but their son? Wow. Doomed.

To bad he didn't save that rage and go over and fight ISIS with it. That would have been a much better cause than jelousy over a gift of whisky to his wife. I can't stand the taste of it anyway because it all tastes like cough syrup to me. I would hate to think I had to die over it.

David, I do indeed have lesbian and gay friends! I have a daughter from another mother who was kicked out for being gay. We not only raised her from her teens, we went to her wedding a couple years ago, hell! we planned it! I also have a lot of guy friends; mr cb and I have been married 34 years, and he never did have, has now or will have any suspicions or worries about infidelity. Why? Because I'm such a moral, upright person? NAH! Because I've never seen a man more at ease with his manhood, more secure in his self worth and confident in love. I know I married the best man in the world, but I enjoy the company of people..and half of those people are guys.

I'm not saying there aren't horrible women who do horrible things to good men, I'm just saying that a man can indeed be friends with a woman without sex rearing it's head. <----heheheh...I said "rearing its HEAD"

Nice, I see what you did there - ; ) I'm glad you and hubby have what sounds like a great relationship, and Ok I will agree i have heard of rare cases of men and women having perfectly platonic friendships, but unless they are gay - they are at the very least thinking about getting your clothes off, or what you would look like kneeling.. it's true. I've had some pretty good female friends over the years, but i always, and i mean always had what could be considered ulterior motives.. and if i don't act on those motives i sure as hell think about it .

That's perfectly ok; every person is allowed to think whatever he chooses...as long as all he does is think about it! I think I'm derailing the thread...sooo, back to the crime

U.S. soldier who fatally shot wife with assault rifle because a man brought over whiskey said ‘it was a stupid thing to do’
[...]
U.S. solider pled not-guilty to first-degree murder on Wednesday after he allegedly fatally shot his 19-year-old wife in the back of her head
[...]
last week because another man had brought a bottle of whiskey to their home.

Army Specialist Skylar Nemetz, 20, had returned to their apartment in the Washington State suburb of Lakewood after he had been away at a military training exercise and reportedly approached his wife, Tarrah, about the bottle of alcohol at their residence that had been brought over by another man.
[...]
said that officers found the teenage wife in a chair at the computer with her head slumped forward and a pool of blood at her feet. The bullet went through her skull and pierced the computer screen. Authorities arrived shortly after a neighbor who heard the gunshot
[...]
Nemetz, who had no previous criminal record, initially chalked up the shooting to an “accident,” according to deputy prosecutor Jared Ausserer’s statement
[....]
He gave various accounts of what had happened, including one story in which he claimed his wife was cleaning the rifle and that he simply had it in the house for her protection while he was away.
[...]
later provided no reason for the shooting when he was challenged by detectives, instead calling it a “stupid thing to do.”
Immediately after the shooting, he reportedly put the gun’s magazine under the bed and put the rifle in the closet before flushing a bottle of cinnamon whiskey down the toilet. At no point did he call 911.
“When asked why he took the time to do all of these things instead of offer aid to his wife or call 911, Mr. Nemetz was unable to provide a reason,”
[...]
A colleague of the man reportedly told
[...]
that Nemetz had thanked him for the liquor when he was at their apartment. The colleague, who remains unidentified in the report, told Nemetz that another man had brought over the bottle. Nemetz then became “visibly upset,”
[...]
Nemetz is now being held on $1 million bail and he has been ordered to turn over his firearms in case he is released.

An aunt of Nemetz said
[...]
that he called family from jail and was “distraught,” repeatedly saying, “I love my wife.”

So, because a married woman excepts alcohol from a man she may be unaware might be thinking of getting her clothes off, the murder is kinda justified?

I'm still confused... and should have been dead a hundred times over, I suppose. :p

But, aside from that...

NO ONE SHOULD GET MARRIED UNDER THE AGE OF 25. Divorce rates when one partner is under 25 are 95%. Murder rates are apparently higher, too.

If you're going to spend eternity together... what's the rush?

god, right? my initial reaction was "how the fuck old are these people??"
of course someone else had to bring liquor over. neither is even old enough to drink.
ugh, I hate how the armed forces are basically begging their young members to get married asap.
also, fuck this guy.

Its my bosses birthday today, we all chipped in for some really really expensive tequila...should we be shot?

Tequila is the Devil's piss:eek:! Never touch that stuff:nailbiting:. Especially if it's gen-u-ine mezcal :jawdrop:a friend smuggled over the border. You will get very, very drunk:bag:, fight over who gets the worm :rage:(we cut it in half) and end up running up and down the street:woot:, crawling under strangers' azalea bushes:rolleyes:, puking spaghetti and meatballs on said bushes:vomit:, and passing out in someone's front yard:hungover:. That damn azalea looked like a Christmas tree with spaghetti icicles:smug:. <----- I never did such a thing:angelic:. Certainly not twice:smuggrin:!

Yeah, nothin like dancin on tables fallin in a punch bowl then goin outsside to pole dance with a streetlight before you go to your knees to puke out your intestines then feelin like a vampire in the sun the next morning

Obviously everyone has missed my point- especially you Bubbles. Sucking up to the boss, and this situation are completely different.

All I was saying is that maybe, just maybe, the hot wifey had history with liquor boy, and hubby came home from work on a few occasions to find her passed out nekkid with goo stains on her face, other dude's drawers on the lampshade or something and dildos strewn about .. and maybe hubby the week before said "if it happens again I'll kill you". I'm not saying it was the right course of action. I'm saying maybe there was some issues with the guy that brought the booze- because it sounded as if he was fine about it when he thought his friend made the delivery, but then snapped when he found out it was another guy.

And yeah. I'll stand by the fact that if i'm sneaking over to a married broad's house with booze while her husband is at work it's not to chit-chat about drapes, cleaning products, and gossip, and I am aware there could be violent consequences for that.

Speaking of missing things, I made a joke that had nothing to do with you. I got your point and didn't feel the need to comment on it.

I think had the hypothetical situation you fantasised actually happened, he would have tried to claim he did it in a moment of rage due to numerous transgressions - a crime of passion.

The fact that his wife was beautiful and that another man may have been trying to hit on her does not excuse shooting her in the head. You say that it's still not the right course of action, but you're very keen to look for excuses for him and paint her as a slut who drove him to it.

You also have a double standard about when men lose their minds. "it's often because a woman drove them to it", when I'm sure you would never let a woman get away with that excuse. You'd be more likely to call her a bunny boiler. Saying "the other person made me do it" doesn't fly for either gender. If you let someone drive you wild like that, it's because you allowed them to.

You seem to have a rage and a maniacal distrust of women that's leaking through in your posts. You might want to see someone about that.

I lurve you CB! You're my kinda human ;) No-one rocks emoticons whilst describing socially unacceptable behavior quite like you! :woot:

Even if she was cheating on him (and there is no proof of that) my response to that is so what?
There were options he could have done like couples therapy or divorce.
You don't get the right to kill someone because he or she cheated on you, period.

@David Webb - here's another EQUALLY plausible scenario that didn't even occur to you because you want the wife to be a tramp that deserves it. What if, to surprise her husband since he too is under-aged, she had someone go to the PX and buy them a bottle of Fireball so they could have a nice, tipsy, fun evening at home and he just took the whole thing the wrong way because he's a hot-headed fuckball that can't control himself? See, my scenario, that's the way women in love think. The result of her act, that's the way men think...
Awe me ole Fireball, me choice of drink, while ice fishn up here in da north!

I got married on September 27 2006. Just 3 months after my 16th birthday. In 12 minutes will be my 8th happily ever after anniversary with my lovely jackass husband. Age isn't always a factor. It's the persons maturity that needs to be taken into consideration. After 8 years we have finally decided to have a child. Let me tell you, my husband has been a Marine for all 8 of these years. And if he was to shoot me over some other man bringing me booze then I would have too many bullets to count in my head. There has to be more to this. Cheating or something. Or he is just fucken looney!!! And y'all I can HONESTLY say me and my husband have only been in one real argument it was over me wanting to get a dog rather then having a baby! Lol

Congrats, but I don't understand why anyone needs to point themselves out as the exception to the rule. I clearly stated the divorce rate to be 95%, meaning a 5% success rate. That said, you're only 8 years in. Certainly not wishing you ill, just mentioning that there's still plenty of time. Depending on when your birthday is, you're not even 25 yet, so...

Good luck to you. :)

There is no rage, just enlightenment.. As much as I hate to give out any personal info- I have been with the same woman for almost 20 years, and we have a very happy relationship. I trust her more than anyone else in the world... that said - i trust a very very small percentage of human beings -period. I've seen enough things in my somewhat short life to know that people (men and women) do terrible things to one another- physically, mentally, emotionally, etc. And it's not that i distrust women any more than men- i just know that 99% of you are fucking Koo-koo bats. : ) That's all.
