Sorry so long
What the hell was so important about that message that this boy felt the need to end a human life. Somebody has their priorities all fuckered up.
Rest in peace, Young Angel. I'm sorry you had such a fucktard for a boyfriend.

This apartment building is right down the street from my grandma's. That's one thing I hate about Seattle. You can be in a nice neighborhood, and 4 blocks later, the straight up ghetto. Anyway, I had a friend who lived there briefly in elementary school. Back then, the place had its own little police station. Literally. I'm surprised he was a Highline student, though (I went to Highline - used to be a good school). Usually, all the hood rats are funneled over to Evergreen.
I don't agree with my state's practice of sentencing juveniles as adults. The fact is, this kid isn't going to be put to death and he's not going away for life. He's going to be back out on the street one day. Juvenile facilities provide better rehabilitation than adult facilities. Research clearly illustrates that juveniles sentenced as adults reoffend sooner and more often than juveniles sentenced as juveniles. I don't care how you feel about the legitimacy of rehabilitation - the facts are the facts.
If kids are being sentenced as adults because the juvenile system doesn't allow for sufficient sentences, then it's the juvenile sentences that need to be addressed. Charging them as adults is simply a bandaid that tends to backfire on us.
athena, i agree in most cases, this one especially. the last thing this particular kid needs is to be in big boy jail and become an even bigger scumbag's protege/bitch. i think it's safe to say his life is already a waste. i like seeing people turn it around though. one can only hope. but wouldn't hold my breath.
In general I agree that people should be judged correctly based on their state of life. Of course, in this case I believe tried as an adult is fair because we're not talking about a juvenile act, nor something likely related to the fact that the person is under 18. Most 16 year olds are as mentally mature as most 18 year olds, I believe. There's not a substantial difference.
The biggest reason why I support trying him as an adult in this case, though, is the way it will be handled when he's 18. If it's on his minor record, he can have it sealed in a couple years and it never affects him again. At least if it's an adult record, I don't believe it can be sealed.
She was a beautiful and very sweet looking young lady. He needs to do big boy time for this big boy crime. I am so glad that they charged his murdering ass as an adult.
Burien man sentenced in Web post slaying
Heh. His first problem was blaming it on a fictitious gang member. A homeless person would have been a better patsy. We've got plenty of bums in Burien, but no gang members.
I will never agree with charging juveniles as adults. It's counter-intuitive. They're NOT adults. That said, the issue will never be remedied until the juvenile courts have more sentencing capabilities - specifically, longer sentences.
15 years is a joke of a sentence. And if the gun accidentally went off, why lie about what happened and say a gang member did it and then shoot himself?
He'll get out when he's still in his prime... and he will do this shit again.
