Autumn Rodgers and Lainie Rodgers
In a span of three days, two Bradford County School District employees have been arrested on child sex-related charges.

With her hoodie up and head ducked down, 24-year-old Autumn Rodgers turned herself in on Wednesday; she’s listed as a middle school paraprofessional on the school district’s website.

“It’s sad, it’s truly disturbing,” Saul Urrutia said.

Urrutia is an 11th grader at Bradford High School and says he knew of Autumn, saying she seemed cool but didn’t expect this. Autumn Rodgers is accused of having a relationship with a 16-year-old female student- that started when the victim was 15. The arrest report says Autumn Rodgers sent inappropriate photos and admitted to having physical sexual activity with the student.

Lainie Rodgers, who was arrested after deputies learned she was allegedly inappropriately texting with a 16-year-old girl; she’s listed as the head volleyball coach for Bradford High School.

Despite the same last name, the Sheriff’s office said they are not blood-related but are friends and co-workers, these are separate cases with two different 16-year-old victims.

“Just to think it happened back-to-back in one night, it’s very scary,” Urrutia said.

A video given to Action News Jax shows Lainie Rodgers in a Tik Tok that’s been screen recorded and potentially edited with words reading, “We were practically dating,” “NO ONE EVER KNEW” and “YOU BETRA-.” The Sheriff’s office confirmed it’s Lainie in the video, it’s her account and have the video in their possession.

The Sheriff’s office also confirmed they have ongoing investigations into other employees within the district, but right now there is not enough evidence to pursue criminal charges.

“Information that seems to have the most legitimacy, we are taking first and focusing our resources on that,” Bradford County Sheriff’s Office Colonel Brad Smith said. “If we determine that anybody else has committed any crimes, we will pursue those to the fullest.”

When talking to investigators, Autumn Rodgers “admitted to having a sexual relationship” with the victim, the warrant stated.

The victim also admitted to having a sexual relationship with Autumn Rodgers and “also stated explicit sexual pictures were exchanged between her and Rodgers,” the warrant said.

Autumn Rodgers allowed investigators to search her phone and in the “for my eyes only” section of her Snapchat account, “explicit sexual pictures” of Rodgers were found. When asked about the pictures, Autumn Rodgers told deputies she had sent those pictures to the victim.

Rodgers, 24, is accused of lewd/lascivious behavior, authority figure soliciting/engaging in lewd conduct with a student, and cruelty toward a child by the transmission of harmful material to a minor, according to the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office.

Autumn Rodgers’ victim is also a 16-year-old female, but not the same victim of Lainie Rodgers, according to BCSO. According to the warrant affidavit for Autumn Rodgers, she told deputies on Tuesday that “the relationship started” between she and her victim when the victim was 15.

Lainie Kay Rodgers, 24, is facing charges of transmission of harmful material to a minor by electronic device, and authority figure soliciting/engaging in lewd conduct with a student, BCSO said.

Deputies got a tip on Thursday that a Bradford High School student saw “inappropriate text messages” on her friend’s phone “from a Bradford School District employee/coach ... that contained sexually explicit language,” the release detailed.

At first, the victim, a 16-year-old girl, was interviewed with her parents present and told detectives that there was no inappropriate behavior going on with Rodgers and said they were just friends.

Detectives then went to Rodgers’ home “and admitted to sending sexually explicit text messages to the victim’s phone,” BCSO said.

The victim was then again interviewed with her mother present and “admitted to having a more involved relationship” with Rodgers than she said previously.

The charge of transmission of harmful material to a minor by electronic device, and authority figure soliciting/engaging in lewd conduct with a student against Lainie Kay Rodgers was dropped.

On Feb. 14, 2022, court records show that a motion to dismiss was filed by Rodgers and her legal team.

The motion argues that the charge of transmission of harmful material to a minor should never have been brought upon Rodgers as there was no actual evidence of transmission. The motion argues that a photo was found in Rodger's camera roll and there was no evidence to suggest that she sent the photo to the victim.

In regard to the charge of offenses against students by authority figures charge, the motion says that the victim stated that Rodgers "consistently refused her advances."

All felony charges against Rodgers were dropped.

Rodgers pleaded no contest to the remaining charge, a misdemeanor, which was contributing to the dependency of a minor. The court ruled that the charge stems from Rodgers failing to report the advances made by the minor.

The court agreed to a “withhold of adjudication”.

The terms of the agreement include the probation, certain restrictions on unsupervised contact with minors and no contact with the victim and their family.
